Our vacation was really nice. We flew out of O'Hare at 8:00am Saturday morning and arrived in Orlando around 11:30am local time. We got our bags and everything with no trouble and went and picked up the rental car. Avoided the line with the self-serve kiosk (yay!). After some discussion on which rental car to pick. I was leaning toward a Pontiac Vibe and Chris wanted the Mazda 3. But if the keys had been in that Prius we would have both been all over that. Just as we were about to put our stuff in the Mazda an employee parked a Pontiac G6. I sped past some middle agers and grabbed it so that we could have that since it was something I knew we both could agree on. Not a bad ride for the week either. =)
We brought our GPS with us from Chicago so we used that to direct us to my father-in-law's trailer in Stuart, FL, about 2 hours south of Orlando. Met up with the FIL and we went and visited some of the beaches and saw the super eerie Banyon Trees. Those things look like they're straight out of a haunted forest or something. Waded in the ocean at Hobe Sound and Stuart Beach and got splashed by the waves. Chris' dad treated us to subs and basically relaxed for the rest of the day.
Sunday we woke up and went to the flea market by the FIL's. I got some really nice necklaces with blown glass charms that were only 3 for $10. Not to mention some kick ass sunglasses for $5. Chris got a very nice shell necklace and bracelet and some other odds and ends. While we were at the flea market my mother in law called and said that she had missed her connection so she wouldn't be at the airport til 2pm. Since we had time to spare we went by Hobe Sound and had some fun swimming and collecting sea shells. Picked up the MIL at West Palm Beach airport and then all went out to Applebee's for dinner.
Monday we all went by the beach again and had an awesome time. I even got some time to tan, cause I'll be damned if I go on vacation to Florida and not get a suntan. Chris got a pretty bad burn on his back from bending over collecting shells for a welcome sign he's gonna make for the new house. After we got back from the beach the FIL grilled some steaks on the Weber and we had a nice Memorial Day BBQ before we left to go back to Orlando to check into the resort. We got to the resort around 6pm checked in and relaxed in our really nice 2 bed, 2 bath room. We took a quick trip out to Walmart to grab some supplies for the room so we wouldn't have go out to eat every day. Picked up some quick skillet meals and cereal.
Tuesday we had our Time Share presentation. Our sale rep was really nice and it was cute that they tried to work with us to help us "afford" a timeshare but it just wasn't happening. I mean they expected us to end up paying almost $60,000 for a $28,000 timeshare. Granted the resorts were nice but they aren't THAT nice. After we got out of that we went and had some Chinese, relaxed by the pool.
Wednesday we took our free passes from our time share presentation and went to Universal Studios. Since Chris isn't big on rollercoasters we went on Shrek 4-D, Twister, and Jaws. It just so happened that on both Twister and Jaws we both got SOAKED. It lucked out that we were probably one of the last boats that got to ride Jaws before they closed it due to "incliment weather".
I'll stop there b/c I'm at the airport and about to board the plane. More once we get back in Chi.
