Not only chairing I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue for forty-five years (which what I best remember him for), but presenting his own jazz radio show for forty years, not to mention performing his own jazz for about seventy. You can't say he didn't get a lot into his time.

(He was also the oldest active radio quizmaster at the time of his death. This is plainly a game for veterans, though, as the nearest rival to the 86-year-old's record was Nicholas Parsons - aged 84.)
