Because there's as much evidence in the Bible that all those ridiculous stories occured as there is in that diologue, above.

I'm just really fed up with Christians who shape their entire lives around a book that was written several thousand years ago.

I shape my life around life, itself. That's all there is to live for. So why complicate things with multi-thousand-old values and morals?

I certainly think that everyone's definition of "purpose" is different. Direction also widely differs. I don't think I have a particular direction and I do not intend on having one. Like I said, I don't like to conform.
