Propaganda and Produce on Aisle 5

So listen. Today I was at the market with my niece, yanno, performing my Nanny/Ms. Doubtfire-type duties, trying to decide whether to buy one or two gallons of milk, when this nice older gentleman walks past me. And I can feel him looking at me, so I smile and say hello to him. And he looks like a nice old man. Not one of those creepy geriatrics who makes dirty jokes and laughs at them until he coughs up a lung. He kinda looked like Ozzie Davis.

Then he pulls this little comic book/pamphlet from his pocket and gives it to me. Then he pulls out another one and gives it to my niece. I'm guessing it's just a fun little coloring book or something, so I thank him and he walks away. The title of my book is "The Little Bride." The title of my niece's is "It's Coming!" And no, it's not about anything friendly or fun. It's an attack on Islam and science.

Long story short, this friendly old man has given my seven-year-old niece and me some right-wing extremist Christian fundamentalist propaganda. Some really ignorant-type stuff.

If you can stomach this ridiculous mess, click here to read it online.

I'm gonna be honest, though, I laughed my ass off. For one thing, the drawing is hella ugly. Secondly, the one dude has an eyepatch for no apparent reason whatsoever. Third, there's a racist stereotypical subliminal message embedded in the 10th page, second box.

What do you think they're going to the airport for? Why'd they throw that in there?

And that's just the one he gave me. Here's the one he gave my niece. Like she's gonna understand what this is about. She's seven!
