OK, so Shealyn felt bad the other day; she felt so bad she complained about everthing. She was complaining about complaining.
I had to umpire today and the baseball game started just fine because I yelled, "Play Ball...Batters up!" Not more than 10 minutes, I called back-to-back in-field fly rules. First of all, I always met up with the coaches before the game and make sure they understand the rules. I ALWAYS ask coaches if they understand the in-field fly rule, and tell them that it is in effect. They both this time said yes, they understand it. Apparrently they didn't because they argued with me both times it occurred. The rest of the game went fine, but after the game I told both coaches to go to the supervisior of the park and ask to see a rule book and go to rule 6.05 and to read rule 2.00 under "in-field fly". As I started my second game I had the coaches come up to me as I was by the gate inbetween innings and tell me tht I was right and they appologized for the arguement and tod me that I did a great job out there umpiring.
As the second game went on I had to make two more in-field dly rules. I had one kid swing as he got hit, as a rule it is a strike, yet more arguements from the crowd. Even then, I had a ball go up in the air in betwwen the pitcher and catcher and it hit the ground in fair territory and bounced untouched into foul territory and I called a foul ball. Again, they went crazy the parents did not like me too much, but when the coaches, which I could hear say, "man this guy knows every rule." I just thought that was kool.
The coaches after that game told me they hope I come back to that field.
I am already requested at that park, so I like going to that park, Pard. I got tested in rules tonight and I think I passed just fine. I know coaches are going to argue, they just want there team to win at any cost. I love Umpiring, and I do it more like a hobby than I do a job.
Steveo came to visit me and we went to the LSU vs. UNO game...we won in the 13th inning, 7-5. It was a great game, crazy, but great.
