Okay, um ... this is officially the best fanfic I have ever read and one of my personal favorites. Hell since it EASILY exceeds 50,000 words I'd have to chalk it up as one of my favorite novels! I honestly can't praise this thing enough. The pacing was excellent, the tension gripping, the characters heartbreaking and endearing, and the ending is honestly PERFECT - satisfying, fulfilling, and with the perfect balance of bitterness and redemption for Every Single Character! Hopefully I'm not falling too much into hyperbole, but honestly, I love this thing so much that I can't be bothered to notice its flaws <3
I know you had some reservations about finishing Nostos (a perfect title by the way) but I'm SO thankful that you finished it because these last 15 chapters or so have been my absolute favorites. I could nit-pick them a bit, but why would I want to? The emotion and tension in these last scenes almost brought me to tears, but at the end I was absolutely overjoyed while still feeling the weight of the situation.
I really want to re-read the entire thing, now that I know the ending, if only to pick up some of the clues about the whole Chick conspiricy :D //Mems the whole thing//

Some of the issues in the last chapters are due to the edits. It threw off the pacing quite a bit and some dramatic impact was lost in the scenes between Spoony and Linkara. There was also some information about Chick's motivation that ended up being cut and I couldn't shoehorn it in anywhere else (which is also why there's a rather awkward exposition dump from Critic when she leaves)
The rest of the issues were all just my writing. ;)
For the clues...basically, just about every time Critic does something really stupid, even as far back as leaving the bunker without enough supplies, Chick is touching him. He also keeps flipping through emotions...whenever he feels anger or anything else, it almost immediately flips over into fear. If you felt a sudden wave of joy right after you did something really cruel to a friend, it would probably scare the piss out of you because you would know the emotion wasn't appropriate for the situation. Because of his personality, every emotion she tried to 'give' him just kept building his overall fear. The dreams were his subconscious trying to fix the damage she was doing to his sanity.
Ooookay...clearly I've thought about this WAY too much.
I'm very, very pleased you enjoyed it, especially the ending. I was worried it was too happy for the tone of the fic (I had something MUCH darker planned at one point), but hey, sometimes rocks fall and everyone DOESN'T die. So again, I'm very glad you liked it, and thank you so much for the lovely review. :)
