I still suck at titles though. And it was longer than expected so here is part one, you’ll get part two on Friday I think.
Kurt should have known from the beginning it was a bad idea. A too enthusiastic Rachel was never good news. And she had been more than excited to take him on this cruise over the Nile.
”You’ll see, it’s gonna be perfect! A lot of sun, the sea, no one to mess with our heads…”
“I don’t know Rachel, I still have stuff to do here, you know,” he had answered.
“No no no you have to come. Besides, I’m paying, this is gonna be your birthday gift so you don’t have any excuses,” she stated. “Please come with me?” she begged with a smile.
“Fine, I’ll come with you.”
And now he was stuck here, on the deck of the boat in the middle of the night with no other company than himself since Rachel was inside flirting with the barman who was apparently the newest love of her life.
He was staring at the water blankly, thinking that he could be sitting on his very comfortable couch in New York watching any reality show that would be on and eating Chinese food. Yeah, that would have been nicer holidays than putting up with Rachel craziness and love affair for two weeks when he heard a familiar voice.
“… And I said ‘babe, that’s not how I do things’, you know. It’s not like I hadn’t warned him!”
Oh no. Not him. Please. There was no way he could escape him.
“Kurt? What are you doing here?” Sebastian called.
“I could ask you the same question,” he retorted.
“Woah, you’re actually talking to me? I thought you didn’t want anything to do with me anymore.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Good night.”
Kurt hurried to find Rachel. “Are you fucking serious? You knew he would be there, didn’t you?”
“I… have no idea what you’re talking about,” she answered with an affected surprise.
“You knew Sebastian fucking Smythe would be there and you didn’t tell me anything?! I can’t believe you would do that to me!” Kurt yelled.
“Listen Kurt, I know you think it’s terrible right now, but it was the only way to get you two to talk! You have two weeks to sort things out, isn’t that wonderful? You should be thanking me,” she stated with a satisfied smile.
“Wow. And here I thought you were my best friend. How silly of me,” he said, hurt. “Of course you of all people would think getting me on a cruise with the guy who broke my heart was a good idea.”
“That’s not what I meant, listen, I’m sorry if you take it like that but you two really should talk. I’ve never seen you happier than when you were with him. I just want that for you.”
“Do I have to remind you that he dumped me even though we weren’t exactly together? How did that make me happy exactly?” Kurt said angrily.
“Kurt you’re taking everything the wrong way. I swear I meant well.”
“Well, stop. I’m sick of people making decisions for me.”
Kurt turned around and went to his cabin as fast as possible to be sure he wouldn’t see Sebastian again.
