Thou Shalt Repent

Thank you to miss_porcelain for inviting me to your Sunday evening soiree where I had the pleasure of meeting a some of your lj / goth girlfriends …

Oooh dear. Champagne and I are definitely not to be friends, in fact we should steer well clear of each other in the future … except at weddings and the like where we will no doubt be forced to associate (this interaction will be kept short and perfunctory though I assure you).

I don’t know how many bottles of bubbles I consumed last Sunday evening … enough to be a little unsure what was said/done during the second half of the evening? I remember being offered a lift home by trashtastika and bluevirago (thank you!) who were going in the OPPOSITE direction to me … indicating they may have been more than a little concerned at my state of inebriation … saying “No thanksh, shime foiyne” and suddenly finding myself on King St falling into a cab … sometimes ignorance is bliss, so comments on this can be kept to yourselves (unless I offended you that night, in which case, get out your claws and dig in ladies/dude, I probably deserve it!).

Next morning I tried, tried, tried to crawl out of bed in order to meet the lovely Diller and Amanda for brunch (they were even going to pay!) … managed a forlorn text basically saying that my brain was shrivelled and yelling at me and brunch would just be too much for my head to take … rain-checked.

I managed to find some bacon in the fridge and so proceeded to cook it up. We had no toast, no eggs, no spinach, no mushrooms … I ate a plate of bacon. Ahhhh, the goodness! A couple of coffees later I wasn’t feeling too bad (considering). I sat and watched dismal daytime TV (in fact, some of it is so bad it’s hilarious), napped and eventually decided I felt good enough to face my self-inflicted punishment - the newish walking thingamy given to us by further_ahem ‘s Mum. Half an hour of swinging arms and legs like a snow-skiier without snow and I was sweating but feeling accomplished!

Tuesday I decided that I still needed to do penance for my bad behaviour and so embarked on ‘spring-cleaning’ the kitchen. Ugh, it is amazing what you can find on top of cupboards, at the back of cupboards and in dark little holes between cupboards. I went shopping for new cleaning things (I have always found this helps to get a mission started, it’s almost pleasurable to rip open a packet of new cloths in order to sully them with grime) and then spent a good 3 to 4 hours emptying cupboards, scrubbing, repacking cupboards and so on. We now have the cleanest, most sparkly kitchen in da Ville. I had grand thoughts of spring cleaning the rest of the house, but I think that will have to be a combined effort over a number of weeks!

Looking forward to Dining in the Dark with further_ahem on Friday night … I still can’t believe NO-ONE was even curious about it… one or two said it was too pricey, which it is … but jeez, people will spend that much in a night at the pub! We will no doubt regale you with tales of dropped yabby and spilled wine very soon!
