Last Home Update! (in theory)

Mar 16, 2006 01:43

Whenever I say something like "My train'll be in at 5:30. In theory" I think of that episode of Two Guys and A Girl where Johnny proposes to Sharon and she says yes..."in theory!"

Just thought I'd share.

I had a fandom-ish rant that I decided to forgo simply because my fandom rants don't just dip into the geeky, they dive into the geeky and stay there for a while. Reading fanfic. Making fan art. Making icons. Making icons which I then use. I love icons. But I digress. Rants = geeky. And I think that, while I shared quite a bit of my knowledge of fandom and its slang in the coffee shop that one time, the truth is that my fandom knowledge...well, it knows bounds, but it hasn't seen those bounds in a while. If you are curious as to what my rant may have been like (it was mostly about that whole bit where an evil man in canon can be turned good or even stay evil and still be a protagonist (as it were) in fandom, but an evil woman is the devil no matter what and that will not change. and then it was more into the differences between fandoms on large cast shows versus smaller ones. See: geeky), feel free to post.

Anyway. What's up with women's jeans? Why are they made of such thin material? Why must they all have stretchy fabric? Why are they so arbitrarily sized? Why, when I go shopping, do I always leave with such retail-hate? Even when great deals are found.

I was at Colonie Center, looking for boots. Boscov's had a pitiful selection. So I went to NY&Co and found athletic pants that fit! Yay! That plus my new sneakers (with treads!) equals yay for fencing and the gym. Yay. Anyway, then I went to a few other places and eventually went to the Sketchiest Sears in the History of the Universe. SSHU seems to always be having a going-out-of-business-type clearance sale (..or it only has those twice a year and they have corresponded to my 2 visits). Anyway, you know how no stores have windows? Or clocks? So you're there and then you're leaving and you're like "Holy shit, it's been 12 hours!" but you never knew? Well, you never notice in other stores. In SSHU, you notice. You're there the entire time thinking, "There's....no windows...here" and then you're like "Holy shit, 4 bucks?" and you're distracted. And then you realize it again. You kinda have this buying-it-off-the-back-of-a-truck feeling about the stuff you get there. So I went and I found a few shirts that were cheap, but I'm uncertain about them (as I am about everything in my life lately) and then I went in search of a shoes section. Might as well look, right? And it was there that I saw the sign that every woman wishes to see. Well, every woman if every woman is me. And she is. I am. I'm every woman.

Heh.

I totally thought of that last part in SSHU. And laughed. Yup, I was the Crazy Girl in the Sketchiest Sears in the History of the Universe.

ANYway. Said sign said: All Womens Boots: $14.98

They're slightly smaller than I'd like, but not uncomfortably so. Basically, all the stuff I got in SSHU is really cute, just a little off. Like if I bought a Kat Spade purse from a vendor in New York or something. All in all, I am content.

I leave tomorrow. Haven't packed. Am not eager for the lack-of-work to be over yet. Even though I miss folks. I like...the ease of being here. I miss the gym. And fencing. But I like...house. The house. Being in a house. I shall enjoy being back here in April. Early leaving due to a meeting/paper to write. Plus, fencing camp on Sunday. Saturday. Both? We'll see.
Why do I get like this before leaving? Always homesick the night before.

It has been established that I am a very confusing friend. This is probably Allie's fault, as she understands my references, encouraging me.

stuff, geeking out, family, school
