"Hello, my name is Lisa and I'm a villainholic'

Greetings to you all, at this wonderful community! I happened to come this way, and knew I had to join.... I do not come to livejournal all that much, but do participate in fandoms or communities that interest me, so if this is agreeable I will happily drop on by. Villains have always fascinated me, in a way that goodness never will, and I have always found other people who lean towards dark things more interesting company... I am a writer and a poet, although I only write about darkness at the moment, and am keen to explore whatsoever might be unusual and disturbing... And I appreciate anything that can be disturbing but also subtle...

You ask about the villains I admire. Most I think will come from books, because although films can be fascinating, I find that there is a dissapointing tendancy to favour out and out evil, and lose the interesting greys in the middle... The one exception here would have to be Lucius Malfoy, who was made to be much more interesting than origionally written to be. Jason Issacs is incredibly talented as an actor... Also in films I suppose there is the joker, who manages to make chaos surprisingly sexy...

From books I think my favourite would have to be the anti-hero Gerald Tarrant, who is fascinating because he is everything that had potential to be a hero - who then throws away the traditional happy ending to prolong his own existance, so we will not die before he sees the contribution of his lifes work on his world. Sacrifice and sexiness make a wonderful combination.

Then there is also Tyrion Lannister who is wonderfully written, and Dracula of course, because one has to pay respects to the origionals...

I also have a sort of twisted admiration for the villain in the film 'pan's labyrinth' the commandor is very interesting in that he really believes what he does even though it seems obviously wrong - and he is clearly a very strong person - willing to take risks himself and almost showing mercy to some of the other characters who he must have realised are spies.... He is very cold and very interesting...

Hmmm actually thinking about it there seems to be a trend ;) anyway lovely to meet you people, hope there are those who agree with some of my favourities....  xxx
