Hi! I'm not sure when, exactly, I started to have a thing for villains, though I guess it might've started out as sympathy for Scar in Lion King. I find heroes to be WAY too judgmental and dismissive of WHY the bad guys do things. And they're all so goody-two-shoes, it makes me want to go bash my head against the wall is disgusting. I mean, imperfect heroes are fine, but its the villains that really make the story good. Seriously, in real life, wouldn't you rather be stealing that money than stopping the guy doing it for no paycheck whatsoever?
And there goes my rant on how I despise heroes. Never mind me, I have issues (which began with JK Rowling's shameless glorification of that bullying bastard Sirius Black, but that's a rant for some other community).
Now onto what deliciously evil villains I like:
Albert Wesker from Resident Evil. First off, to get it out of the way, the man is so sexy I don't even hear what's going on in the cutscenes because I'm too busy staring at him. And those sunglasses!! There, I've admitted it. But also, I just love how sneaky and treacherous he is. He's definitely not afraid to use any means to achieve his ends, and I respect that. And he always seems to be a few steps ahead of everyone, which I also admire.
Also from Resident Evil, William Birkin. I think I like him mainly because he doesn't look or even act very much like a normal villain. He's scraggly and doesn't really seem to want to cause a lot of destruction or harm to people. But, he also uses unwilling human test subjects without any qualms and wound up developing a horrific virus. So, yeah, he's pretty cool.
Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. He's just really creepy. I mean, he carries a massive knife, wears latex gloves and a bloody butcher's apron, and rapes the poor mannequin monsters. And, he shows up in the most unexpected places, like the roofs of hospitals and apartment staircases. How can someone not like him?
Walter Sullivan. Also from Silent Hill, he's one of those villains that I feel sympathy for, what with the whole abandoned-abused-tortured child thing, and the I-want-my-Mommy thing. And little Walter is adorable.
Alessa and Dahlia Gillespie. Well, Dahlia is an uberbitch, but the riddle talk is just too cool. And Alessa is awesome. I mean, didn't she create the Otherworld? And she's obviously very strong (emotionally) as she was burned alive by her mother but still managed to reak havoc.
Lex Luthor. He's . . . Lex Luthor. He's a rich, scheming mastermind who drives really awesome cars. And he's bald. And he has Daddy issues. And he wears purple shirts. He's, like, one of the best villains ever. Though, I hope he kills Lana.
Angelus. Sure, Angel was great, but wasn't his alter ego just better? Those flippant comments, the sadism, the complete torture he inflicted on the heroes . . . What's not to love?
Agent Smith. Hello, he calls Neo 'Mister Anderson' just to piss him off and can multiply himself by like, nine hundred. And he wears sunglasses. I have a thing for that.
The Green Goblin/Norman Osborn. He was so completely and utterly nuts, I loved it.
Michael Myers. He's the strong, silent, psychotic type. It's quite charming.
Freddy Krueger. Sure, he's completely insane and burned beyond all hope, but the blades and dream jumping make him incredibly memorable.
Agent Sheldon Jeffery Sands. It was the line about "No, I'll kill the cook, I'm parked out back anyway" that made me love him forever.
Lucius Malfoy. He's got a type of Lex Luthor thing going on, but he's just SO incredibly arrogant towards the characters I don't like that I'm totally cheering him on. Severus Snape is actually my favorite Harry Potter character, but he probably counts as a type of hero.
Lord Voldemort/You-Know-Who/The Dark Lord/He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named/Tom Marvolo Riddle. Please, with that many names, the man commands respect. He made Lucius Malfoy his bitch. Okay, not in the technical sense, but considering that Lucius is pureblood and Voldemort is halfblood, he has to be a pretty smooth talker to get the man's loyalty. He's way cooler than Harry Potter, in any case.
Supreme Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious. The man took over the galaxy without ever even revealing his presence to the Jedi or declaring war. He's the ultimate villain.
Darth Vader. The breathing and the voice. And he's Luke's father. And, he said "Your lack of faith disturbs me". I love him with the passion of a thousand hot suns.
Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Revan's whole story was just more than amazing, and Malak's fake jaw really got me.
The Cigarette Smoking Man. Isn't he Mulder's father? Eh. Nevertheless, his whole personality just draws me in. He's so calm about everything, and he appears everywhere. It's like he's omnipotent, or something.
Father. I'm sure that not too many people are familiar with Equilibrium, but it was actually a really good movie. And "Father", the man who rules with an iron hand over the emotion deprived world, was an excellent villain. And there's even a twist about his identity.
Pazuzu. Yay! The Exorcist! His dialogue is just too good, in both the movie and the book. Though, I must admit that Merrin is my favorite character.
Grima Wormtongue, Lord Sauron, Saruman, the One Ring. I think I have a thing for slime balls, dark lords are cool enough, but being a big ass all seeing eye is a whole nother level, Christopher Lee is god, and the Ring is the most evil little object I've ever seen.
The Headless Horseman. Like Christopher Lee, Christopher Walken is also god, and the Horseman's utter invincibility is cool.
Imhotep. He was possibly the first villain I ever took notice of, and he scared the hell out of me.
Bill. The man was a cold heartless, bastard, but he was very suave. And, he led the coolest group of assassins ever.
And, that might just be every single major villain I like. There are a bunch of less-important ones that I like as well, but I'm not even gonna try and list them.
Ah, I already love this community. :) :)
