What a year for casualties and fatalities. It opens with the Asian Tsunami, hits mid point with the biggest terrorist attack in the UK for years. Decades?
It makes me wonder what else might be in store before 2006 gets underway. Nothing, nothing I hope.
We first heard about the explosions around 10am, when the deputy head came into the year 6 class I work in in the mornings to let the teacher know that the pupils who were meant to be going into central london today for a special lunch wouldn't be able to. She said two trains had collided on the central line, but by the time I got down to Nursery to cover A's morning break she was already on the net finding out the latest at that time - power surge? explosive device? By the time I got back upstairs the news was already spreading, people were running for their phones, but of course, the networks were all jammed.
As far as I know all my loved ones are safe and sound but my heart goes out to those who aren't, and to those who have lost theirs. What more is there to say?
