End of a lovely day, of being just hungover enough to be liminal, not enough to feel too bad to enjoy it. Lovely lovely party last night, much gin consumed, much silliness, but all in a very good humoured way. At about 3.30 am I got engaged to a guitar-playing barrister with almost the same surname as me. Apparently we are getting married in april 2008, and honeymooning in bali (after an engagement party in NY, at justine's expense). Considering the boy has only met me twice I think its unlikely to come off, but he does seem happy enough to accept the fact that I will need to divorce him after a year or so, so that I can marry seth lakeman. He also swept my post-party kitchen floor for me, without prompt, all of which is very acceptable husband behaviour. I only found out about the surname thing this evening tho when sally mentioned it in passing (they were at uni together) and it put a real dampener on it for me - unlike a lot of people I rather fancied the idea of being able to change my name. Ah well, I'm sure he'll understand when I state my reasons ;)

Really the point of this post is not my un-engagement or hangover, or anything of those sorts, but to say that I won't have internet at home in galgate until the end of october, so probably won't get much opportunity to post. So if I seem to have disappeared, I haven't, I'm just hiding out in my northern anchorage, incommunicado. And that I'm typing this in my bed in GUT, the last time it will be my bed, my bed as has been for four and a half years. Inconcievable! but true.
