I remember reading about that, once. It made me feel incredibly guilty for being British.

You are not at fault for what your ancestors did. But if one does not take a lesson from it, the loss is not worth it.

I know. It still doesn't make me any less embarrassed about it.

You have a very good heart, Negi.

If you've spoken to Urahara, I'm sure you have an idea of the kind of man he is.

His goals? I doubt a single person, living or dead, could answer that question.

He reminds me strongly of you. Though a you who hides behind smiles and fan.

...We're both scientists, but apart from that, I don't see any similarity.

No? Perhaps I have not spoken to him sufficiently. Or perhaps you are too close to the situation.

That's a pleasant story, Carmen-san.

It is not meant to be just a story, Hyuuga-san, but I fear I overestimated the ability of those to apply history to their own lives. Or it is possible that most are complacent, due to the ease of the last event.

It may be history for yourself... it's nice to hear, but difficult to apply, surely. One wonders the difficulties and tragedies the country suffered and people faced before freedom was established.

The end is only made the more important by what one goes through to attain it. It does not justify the means, but the means validate the end.

Their struggle made freedom worth it.

Good to see that you know your US history.

Well, if this Envy is instable and wants to work alone, then we should just leave him be for the time being.

I haven't spoken to Greed myself, but he might be helpful as long as his goals stay similar to ours. Joshua...I never paid him much attention when he was here last time, so I really don't know how useful he'd be. Killua...I'll have to check into as well.

It is the country I was raised in, and I am a student of history.

Greed desires power, immortality, sex, and money. Power is certainly something that rests within our goals, and with so many in this city we will require more to hold it. It will be simple to pay him so.

Joshua is not entirely predictable. Him, I need input on. He is not inept, and he does not hold to a specific moral code. But I do not know what his goals are, and that is not a good basis to start with.

Killua is young, but youth alone is not an issue. He comes with Gon, it appears. Killua participated in the raid upon the city, and seems to have a drive of his own.

...Huh.

Never heard of that place, but... You're saying they decided they didn't want to be told what to do anymore and fought against it?

Exactly, Killua. And it shaped their country's future. The United States of America are well over two hundred years old, and are a major world power.

Heh. I think I could get to like a place like that.

I do not mind it. It is the country in which I spend the most time.
