It's been a while since I answered some of these, and it's only some I'm answering.

Would you rather lose the ability to read or the ability to speak?
Definitely speak. It would be a pain and very difficult to cope with, but I couldn't give up reading.

Would you rather have all illicit drugs or duelling between consenting adults be legalised?

Yes, I could live without speaking, but not reading!
I'd also add chess and other non-lethal games and sports to the duelling list.
As regarding social stigma I'd say judging people based on their prejudices is definitely something society needs to get over.

Things don't look good for Tonga, so far in the UK there has been one confirmed death of a woman who died trying to save her dogs - she ran an animal refuge.

Chess is a good one!

Since it said "stigma" I went with that one as people are are blamed and shamed for being. Racism and sexism and the rising ageism I've seen online and in the news, and all the other nasty prejudices, are wider than a stigma and usually not as personal. Sexism will probably be the last of those to go.

Yes, that was on the news last night. I haven't heard of any others so far, but communication is pretty ad with just satellite available.
