Slightly more organised

I am soooo tired--physically. I've been reorganising and cleaning and tidying after Greg finally got rid of some of his hoarded junk: 6 cubic metres of it. I reckon there's another three to go, but at last the piles of DVDs and books are now off the floor and tables and onto the newly-cleared shelves. I haven't sorted them at all; that comes later ( Read more... )

Wow, well done both of you with the throwing out and re-organising. I find the prospect of hugely daunting, and so I'm pretty bad at doing it. But it really *is* satisfying when you've done, isn't it? I hope you're pleased with the results so far. Will you be able to get Greg to do some more throwing out soon?

Good luck with getting all your work done this week - you'll deserve your break by the end of it!

If you're bad at reorganising, try doing it a bit at a time. Start in the first cluttered corner that catches your eye and clear that away. Don't think about the rest yet, you're working on that one corner first. Then, when it's done, step back and enjoy the little bit of tidyness you've just created. Then, when you feel up to it, start over with another pile of clutter. Repeat whenever you feel up to it ( ... )

That's easy when you live alone. I used to be very tidy! But when you have nowhere to put the clutter because the shelves and cupboards are full of junk belonging to someone else, that's a problem, and it was mine for the last couple of years. :-(

*nods* Mom wouldn't let any of her *garbage* go out, and neither would Ken. I didn't see any point in throwing out and clearing out my own stuff, because the moment I did, they'd move their junk into the clear patches.

Ah yes. And into the kitchen and anywhere with space. :-(

*nods* It's *SO* much easier when you know that blank space will stay blank.

Very true. I think I'd get into a big fight with those litterbugs. I'd probably wind up either throwing away junk behind their backs or moving out.

Now Greg's done some--and seen how good the place looks--he said he'll do more in smaller amounts each week. :-)

Just show him the bit I wrote about not missing the stuff. It might ease his mind some more.
