Summary: Prince Aiba is the future king of Rainbow Kingdom who has to choose his future partner between marquis Sakurai and earl Matsumoto. The choice seems easy for Aiba who already loves one of them but what if a spell brings him far away from him? Can he believe in him or will he fall in the stained arms of the other?
The prince woke up early and warm like if someone slept hugging him but there was nobody lying on the other end of the big bed.
"Why does it hurt so much?" He mumbled looking sadly at the spot where Sakurai was usually sleeping until two days ago.
"I would erase all of your pain, if I could." Sho replied with a broken tone while trying to caress Masaki's cheek but with no results. As always his hand passed through his lover's body and he couldn't help but curse at himself and that merciless situation, "Damn! I miss you so much, Masaki."
The prince took a deep breath and went to the bathroom. He thought that maybe a shower would help his messy mind but he was totally wrong. While he was under the water, memories began to flow in front of his eyes. He saw both of them brushing their teeth in front of the mirror and making stupid faces before laughing at each other. Or that time when Sho fell asleep in the bathtub and scared the hell out of Masaki who ran to wake him up and shouted like a hysterical girl. And then their sweet making out in the bath, the sexy figure of Sho shaving in the morning. Why were all of those memories so sweet but painful at the same time? Why were they so recent but seemed so distant? Why they brought a sweet smile on Masaki's lips but tears in his eyes? The answer was just one. Because he was worried and insecure. He didn't have any guarantee that Sakurai was really alive, just the feelings lingering in his heart helped him to believe that his lover would come back but were they enough? What if marquis would never come back? He hated that wavering because his love for Sho was an absolute certainty, the only abiding and firm thing in his heart right now. So why was he so insecure?
"Masaki, you need to get a grip of yourself." He mumbled to himself with sad eyes and a defeated expression. "You can't keep on crying like a weakling."
He got out of the shower and dried himself before going to eat something. He didn't have any will to come back to the palace although probably everybody was looking for him. But he couldn't care less. Yes, he was the prince. So what? Wasn't he also human? Didn't he have any right to rest or to go wherever he wanted without advertisements all over the whole kingdom? Couldn't he take some time for himself to cry his eyes out because of his broken heart? No, it wasn't possible. And he knew it better than anyone because he was the prince, the stability of Rainbowland depended on him. And so he needed to come back to the palace, reassure that he was just taking a walk and then he could go back to the cottage to sag. But he would do all of that after a good dinner. It was late afternoon after all and he didn't eat anything since the night before. Masaki took some food from the canteen and left it on the table where he noticed a piece of paper that wasn't there when he arrived. He sat at the table and began to read but right at the start he recognized the handwriting and his eyes became teary. Sho who was right beside Masaki, felt relieved looking at the cute smile on his lover's lips.
"Dear Masaki,
I leave this letter to you while you're sleeping because I didn't want to wake you up.
Did I already say that your face is pure cuteness when you are asleep?"
Aiba giggled and murmured embarrassed as if he was answering to Sho himself: "Yes, you repeat it enough." And then he kept on reading.
"Do you still love me, Masaki? Because I do.
We are apart for two days but I already miss you so much. It's like we didn't see each other for years."
Masaki smiled and whispered: "I miss you too." While a tear left his eye and fell on his cheek.
"I bet you are crying like a girl at the thought that I left you, aren't you?"
"I'm not!" The prince cried out frustrated and Sakurai laughed at that cute pissed face.
"I have to ask for a favor, my love. We can't be together right now and I can't reveal the reason. I just really need you to believe in our love. Will you trust me, Masaki?"
Aiba stared at the letter with glassy eyes and replied: "Of course I trust you, baka." That brought a satisfied smile on the marquis's lips.
"If you do, ask Ninomiya and Ohno. They will help you find me.
Remember our promise: no matter what, I'll surely come back to you.
I can't wait to have you again in my arms. I love you.
By your lovely future husband."
"So he already knows about the marriage." The prince thought with an happy grin. He felt like a big rock magically disappeared from his heart. Sho was alive and safe and most of all he was waiting for him. He couldn't help but be in a hurry because he just wished to tightly hug Sakurai right now. The sooner, the better! So without wasting any more time, he rode to the palace just to let everybody knows that he was okay and then he rushed to the end of the forest where he could find Ohno and Ninomiya.
"Oh-chan! AH! Gomen, gomen!" He screamed when he opened the door without even knocking and found two half-naked men kissing each other hungrily. The prince turned away, his whole face painted in red. "I... I'll come back later!"
"You already ruined the mood, my prince." Ninomiya said pissed off and picked up a white shirt from the floor before wearing it.
"Kazu is right, Masaki-chan." Ohno smiled sweetly although the atmosphere around him was saying quite the opposite. "What brings you here at the wrong time?"
"Sho-chan wrote me a letter!" Masaki shouted happy before turning around.
The black magician faked a laugh and replied sarcastically: "What great news!" And then added with a proud tone: "I suggested it so I'm the one to praise."
"Then it's true that you can help me to meet him." The prince stated with a big smile full of hope.
"Well, theoretically yes but technically it just depends on you."
Aiba was confused. He didn't understand what the black magician was talking about but it didn't matter. He was ready to do anything for Sho. "I'll do it. Whatever it takes, I'll do it!"
"Then you just need to come with us to the magical lake in the forest." Nino simply said like it was a piece of cake.
"Ok, are you ready? We can go right now."
"No, Masaki-chan. You have to wait until Saturday night." Ohno explained.
"Why?" The prince was more and more confused. He just wanted to meet Sho but was he really safe? Why were there so many details? That letter... was it truly written by Sakurai? No, Aiba didn’t have any doubts. It was Sho's calligraphy and he knew it well enough thanks to all the messages his lover left to him in the cottage. "Wait... Saturday night?"
"Yes, Sakurai-san won't be there until Saturday." The white magician made it clear.
"But there's the engagement party!" Aiba cried out. "I won't be able to come out of the palace."
"Don't worry, Masaki-chan." His godfather reassured him with a smile and put a hand on Aiba's shoulder. "We will find a way."
"I already have a plan." Ninomiya stated with a smirk. "Leave it to me."
"I don't know if I can trust you." The prince said.
"Ohy!" The black magician exclaimed pissed off and lightly knocked Aiba on the head.
Ohno punched his lover on his arm and with a tricky smile, he said: "Don't be rude to the prince, Kazu."
"Says the one who doesn't even use honorifics."
"I really don't care." Aiba smiled brightly. "Ohno is the only one I can trust since I was little."
"Oh, thanks prince." Ninomiya used a sarcastic tone. "Well, you'll see you can trust me too."
"How?"
"You will see." He repeated while two pairs of curious eyes looked at him worriedly.

In the meanwhile Sho stayed in the cottage. He took a relaxing shower, changed his clothes and ate something.
There were just three days left before the party and he was feeling very anxious and stressed. He wanted everything to go in the right way but to do so, he needed to check for the tiniest detail and that was impossible in his condition. He couldn't walk freely in the Kingdom because everyone thought marquis Sakurai was dead. If someone saw him, he would have to explain the situation, rumors would spread and if Masaki came to know about the curse, Sho couldn't break it anymore. He had to be careful and stay hidden in the cottage so that only his lover could hang around him without notice. After all it was just for three more days.
