I never realized how many books there really are out there. And it's so funny. I'd be reading the reviews on Amazon, and one would be glowing, can't say enough good things about a book, and you scroll down and read another review where the person just hated it. Funny how people view books differently.
I read a book not long ago, called Crow Lake. It's a Canadian novel so I don't know how popular it is outside Canada. Anyways, a friend loaned me his copy; his girlfriend couldn't put it down, even while they were on a romantic getaway to Alaska. So I'm thinking it's good. I did get sucked into it, but it was such an anti-climactic ending, I wanted to throw the book when I finished. I hated the protagonist so much if i knew her in real life, I wouldn't have anything to do with her. So I went to Amazon and gave it 2 stars. Others were just ga-ga over it, though. Go figure.
So I'm still trying to find that book. Something that's worth my time, and something that will inspire me or teach me or move me. If I can do all three, and then some, then hell, I've done very well.
Has anyone read Lesson Before Dying? It kind of sounded a bit like To Kill a Mockingbird.
Too many books, too little time.
