Prince Charming

So I thought I would take the opportunity on this fine Wednesday morning to update on my Bahamian adventures.

We have non-stop guests this time!!! First it was Rigo, Cristina, and their son Richie whom I grew up with, we would always go out on the boat together on weekends. Still, I hadn't seen them in a long time. The most memorable event was Victor, Richie and I going to the Tipsy Bar (yes, I actually went) because they were going to check out the um, young ladies there. Richie is 27 and he was thus handing down to Victor all of the wisdom and knowledged gained from his 353 girlfriends (random number there, but really every time you turn around he has a new one). It was hilarious, all of their strategizing. Unfortunately none of their plans could be put into action because let's just say there were not a lot of fish in the sea that night. This one group of girls was too focused on getting completely trashed. One of them was putting two beer bottles to her mouth at once. She was cool allright (excuse the obvious sarcasm). Not to mention after all of the other eligeable bachelors there noticed their drunken state they all rushed over like it was feeding time at the zoo. I wonder why?

Then the M's and R's came (those initials stand for respective families). The R's have a little boy named Joseph. He is five. We hit it off right away. He's sooo cute and because of his Spanish nanny he knows how to say "Yo me llamo Jose" and he also tells people they are "loco en la cabeza" (gringo accent to boot). Well the second night they were all here we all went to dinner at the Bluff House which is like the fanciest restaurant in these parts and it is actually on another island so we had to go there by boat. Well we took our boat and the R's boat because we were quite a lot of people. The younger kids (my brother and his crowd) ate downstairs at the Jolly Roger and Joseph and I ate at the Bluff House with the adults. I told him it was because I was the oldest and he was the youngest so we were the most special. Well by the end of the night we were best friends and he asked my if I could ride back on his boat. I said I'd have to check with my parents. He went to ask his mom if it was ok and she told him to ask my dad. And he did! It was the cutest thing ever!!!!

Well my dad said yes obviously and so I rode back on his family's boat with him and we talked and I taught him to sing some songs and we looked at the stars...and a few nautical miles from arriving back at Treasure Cay, he said, what every girl loves to hear: "What is your name?" Classic. It's been the running joke of the trip. The adults constantly ask me what my name is and then they ask Joseph too. I think he finally got it last night but lets see if he still remembers it today.

Well, I'm off to see if I can get in a morning run before I hit the books. Still no word from my professor. Not that I've sent him the formal outline I promised him by the end of last week but um...you know how things are here, everything is on Bahama time.

Today all of my neighborhood friends arrive in the afternoon which means I need to get a maximum amount of work in before they come. Someone find me a library!!!!

I am excited to see my friends but I do wish my parents had planned everything out better. I told them I could only come for a week and I know they think they are doing this for my own good so that I can have more vacation time but they don't get it! I need to work. My dad especially...he doens't understand why I can't take a break. True, I should have gotten more work done before, but a personal matter came up that in the end was probably more important to take care of (in the long run) than my paper, and I had to focus on that for a while. Obviously it was an unplanned circumstance.

Anyways...le run.
