Haven't been doing much lately. Either I have been driving 2 hours to/from work which makes for really long days or working 10-12 hour days working close to home. My current project ends on Friday and I hope that there is another contract that starts up next week because where I'm at is on an air force base which means government money. I'm currently making over $25/hr., but if I have to go to another jobsite then I go back down to my base pay which isn't bad, but not good either.
On the family front, I have one birdie almost out the door. My oldest girl turned 18 a couple of weeks ago and she managed to get herself a job at McDonalds. The down side to that job was that after about 2 weeks her boss told her that he had absolutely no intentions of working her any more that 4 hours a week. Well, last Thursday she told her boss that she quit and they tried to tell her that she "legally cannot quit until 2 weeks after she gives her notice" and she said that was bullshit right to her bosses face. I'm kinda proud of her for standing up for herself because when she was hired on they told here that she would be pretty much full time until school started back. Down side was that she believed them. Well, the day after she quit the golden arches I got home and she told me that she is now working at a local wine shop with a written promise of at least 20 hrs/wk. at almost a dollar more an hour (so far they're living up to their word). And her new boss know the owners of a new restaurant that will be opening up right next door to the wine shop and those people have already hired her and she starts getting hours with them starting August 1 and she'll start working for them part time and help them get the restaurant set up. So I'm a happy step-dad right now. The boy also has a job working in a guitar store for a couple of months now and he seems to be happy with the arrangements. He gets to fondle musical instruments so he's happy as a clam up there. And my little munchkin..........still giving me gray hairs.
Busy,busy,busy......
