Good by, my friend

Last night my family and I attended a memorial service for a dear friend of mine.  He passed on due to complications of his cancer treatment and his diabetes may have helped with that some.  He didn't tell hardly anyone because he didn't want us all to worry or doat over him but he was diagnosed with bladder cancer about a year ago.  He simply didn't want to burden everyone who he considered family to constantly dwell on him.

So last night those of us in Texas gathered together to share all the good memories we could tell each other, where we laughed and cried as to how caring Pete was and also how weird and demented the man was on a normal everyday basis.  I chose not to say goodbye but took the opportunity to know the man better, I knew him for about 10 years but others who were there knew him for a good 20 years or so.  We had a sumbel for Pete where we chose to add a round in honor of Pete first.  Just to show how much this man affected us, even the very devout Christians who showed up had no trouble participating in the sumbel, they just wanted to honor someone whom they cared about.

I'll see you in Asgard, Pete
