:Part II:

Noriko stood with Sho outside of his parent’s home and she couldn’t keep from nervously playing with her hair that wasn’t hidden by her hat.

“You’ll be fine.” He said putting his hand on her lower back, “My parents aren’t scary at all, you really have to worry about-”

The door was wrenched open and Noriko was staring into the eyes of a young man, who smirked, “Onee-chan, who’s the pretty girl?”

Sho gave her a mixed look it was bashful and embarrassed and she laughed, “Shu-chan...can you tell Okaa-san and Otou-san I’m here?”

Shu smiled, “I’m glad you could stop bay Onii-san, OKAASAN! Sho-chan’s here and he brought a girl!”

Sho’s embarrassed look won over his bashful one as they stepped into the house and closed the door behind them.

“Sho-chan.” Noriko perked up and stood behind him mostly as he interacted with his mother hugging her and telling her he was sorry he couldn’t come more often. Noriko was more like a silent observer in the house. She wondered where his sister and father were. She was so tense she felt like a piano wire.

“…Sou desu ka.”

Noriko’s attention went to Sho’s mothers and when their eyes met she bowed low, “Ah, Hajimemashite dozo yoroshiku onegaishimasu!” Noriko felt her voice go from low to high pitch as she said the words.

She looked up and saw an amused look on both Sakurai’s faces while Shun just looked happy.

“Nice to meet you as well…Kinjo-san.”

Noriko felt herself blush, ‘How does she know me?’

Sho walked back over to Noriko and guided her into the house, He didn’t notice his mother’s watchful eyes on them when he touched Noriko’s arm ever so slightly making her smile.

Mrs. Sakurai looked at Shu and she told him quietly to bring the tea to the sitting room, Sho was talking to his mother while Noriko was trapped in her mind unable to think of anything to say.

When they were all seated Shu was hovering around not sure of what to do but he also didn’t want to leave.

“Kinjo-san how did you meet Sho-chan? What do you do for a living? Wha-”

“Okaasan.” Shu whined, “Give them a break.”

She smiled at her youngest and Noriko blushed a little, while Sho smiled.

“Well…” she looked at Sho and he shook his head.

“She asked you.”

Noriko gave him a look and took a gulp of hot tea before looking at the older woman. “We met through a friend.”

“Noriko…”

“I’m sure she doesn’t need to know the whole story.” Noriko said nervously while Shu perked up a this.

“I’d like to know.” He said moving to sit next to his mother, “What’s so embarrassing?”

“Noriko-chan didn’t like me.” He said grinning, “She was rather rude to me.”

“Sho!”

Sho’s mother laughed at their interaction and Noriko felt herself relax, ‘This isn’t so bad.’ She thought looking down at the tea cup, she then smiled and started talking about her life, how she’s still in the making of doing what she wanted to do, how she volunteered as a candy striper, how she really likes to swim, dance and sometime sing badly.

“So you’re pretty well rounded? Your accent is also…different.” Sho’s mother said setting down her tea cup.

Noriko smiled, “I’m from America, I came to Japan at a young age to be closer to my grandparents…” her smile turned sad. “It’s my home now and I still brush up on my English, with books and such.”

“Oh my mother loved books that’s why she’s a Japanese literature teacher.” Sho said proudly.

Noriko smiled widely and the two women started discussing books. Sho watched his mother interact with Noriko and smiled a soft smile one of pride and happiness. He looked over at Shu and saw him grin before he left the living room, he must have lost interest in the conversation.

Sho looked at clock on the mantle and touched Noriko’s arm. “We’re going to be late.”

Noriko pouted and he turned to his mother who stood up and Sho hugged her tightly. Noriko looked at them both and felt a sense of sobering, she watched them a moment longer before leaving them to go put on her shoes and wait. She hope she wasn’t being too rude.

He let go of his mother and looked around for Noriko when he didn’t she her he shrugged, “Noriko’s…different when it comes to family okaasan, she doesn’t mean to come off rude.”

“I had a feeling, she’s a very nice young woman Sho.” she said before taking his arm, “But…have you thought this through?”

“What do you mean?” He felt something hard drop in his stomach, “Thought what through?”

“Sho…” she sighed and as she spoke the more the drop got more predominate. “…I’m just looking out for you.”

He looked down and nodded, “Sayonara Okaasan.” he said walking towards the door and Noriko. He slipped on his shoes and saw Noriko smile at his mother and bow low for the hospitality.

When they were outside he pulled her into a hug startling them both. “Sho?”

“Shh.” he said putting his face in her hair. “Just wait a moment.” he closed his eyes and he felt his heart beat fast in his chest before letting her go. “Let’s go talk before the party.”

Noriko nodded and they got into his car which was a silent ride to her apartment. When they got there they remembered the night before with Aiba.

“You Knew?!” Aiba said yelling making Noriko’s eyes go wide.

“It wasn’t my place to tell you!” Noriko said back, “Yori’s pregnant not me.”

“Well she also kicked me out of her house.” Aiba said defeated, “I was going to surprise her, because I knew she was working hard, and…and I find out she’s carrying my child.”

“She kicked you out?” Sho asked finding his voice, “Why?”

“She told me she didn’t want me there because…she didn’t want her baby growing up seeing their father on a television screen and not in person.” Aiba swallowed and tears leaked out of his eyes, “I want to be with her and my child, but I can’t leave Arashi…I can’t let down our fans, I can’t…”

Noriko stood in watched him while Sho patted his shoulder and told him there is a way to be with his family but Noriko drowned him out she thought about Yori and how determined she is to have that child. ‘Oh god Yori…you idiot…’ she thought crossing her arms.

“I understand as to why she wants to keep it a secret.” Noriko said making both of them look at her, she looked Sho in the eyes, “She doesn’t want to hurt Aiba’s career…We all understand how important this is to you and your fans and if anything happened we’d blame ourselves.”

Noriko thought about Akira’s happy delectation about Nino, Mizumi shy smile when she thought about Ohno and Yori’s determination to keep Aiba shield from getting hurt even if it hurt herself in the process.

“But I love her.” Aiba cried, “It’d hurt not to be near her and our child…”

“Yori heard about Jin too.” Noriko said folding her arms, “She won’t cause you problems.”

“Best bet Aiba-chan is too, give her time.” Sho said looking at Noriko and saw her nod slightly. “She’ll come around eventually.”

He sat crying on Noriko’s couch and they didn’t know how to help or comfort him any longer they patted his shoulder and eventually his tears dried and he left slowly shuffling his feet.

Sho watched him go and Noriko launched herself into his arms and they held each other for the longest time.

Noriko sat on her couch and Sho sat next to her, they held hands and Noriko was getting nervous. “Sho…”

“Noriko I-” Sho paused before speaking again, “I’m worried as to where this will go.”

Noriko frowned and he stopped her from speaking again, “I like being with you and I’ve wanted to be with you for a long time, I’m happy we’re together, but thinking about what happened with Aiba and Yori…I could never turn away like that…”

“I wouldn’t want you to turn away from me I’d want to think of something together.” Noriko said heatedly, “I’m not Yori, and damn it I’ve loved you for a while, why are you questioning us now?”

“I…I just don’t know.”

“What do you mean you’re not making any sense?” Noriko stood up, “Damn it Sho. Damn it If you want to break up with me do it quickly!”

“Noriko…please.” He stood up and touched her arm making her shake him off, “I’m not trying to break up with you, I’m simply asking if you would wait for me...and wait for the things I want to give you.”

“I don’t understand.” Noriko felt the tears fall fast, “What kind of question is that?”

Sho wiped away her tears and kissed her cheeks, “Do-”

“Baka.” Noriko kissed him hard on the lips, “I’ve loved you for so long of course I’d wait for you, as long as I have you now that’s all I need.”

Sho kissed her back and then pulled away. He remembered the words his mother spoke.

You’re to rash right now, and even though you’ve wanted this for this can you be sure this is what she wants? What you want? I have a feeling she’ll break your heart Sho, and you’ll break hers too, I just don’t want you to get hurt and she’s such a nice girl, It’d be a shame don’t you think? I’m not saying these things to be cruel I’m just looking out for you.

“I don’t want to hurt you.” He said pressing his forehead to hers, “I never want to hurt you.”

“Then stop talking like that.” Noriko whispered, “I thought you understood I’ll always love you.”

Sho pulled her closer and they both kissed and let their hands explore each other’s bodies Noriko pulled away and grabbed his arm, they rushed to the bed room closing the door behind them.

“I wonder what’s taking them so long?” Akira asked playing with Nino’s hair as he played his Ds.

“They’re probably having sex.” Nino said making her hit him.

“No….that’d be too soon, they’ve only been dating for a day!” Mizumi said shaking her head but being careful not to disturb Ohno who was sleeping on her lap.

Jun was in the kitchen with Aiba and they were talking in hushed tones. “Are you alright?” Aiba asked softly.

“No. You?” Jun said setting down his glass of water.

Aiba just shook his head. “I wonder if Yori’ll be here.” he looked towards the door and Jun put his hand on his shoulder. “She won’t come will she?”

Jun gave him a sad look, “I don’t think so, but you can hope.”

Noriko and Sho lay in her bed afterwards and she held up his birthday present. “You left it here.” she said simply, “Open it if you want too.”

He sat up a little letting the sheet fall from his shoulders down to his midsection. Noriko was looking at his body but sat up pulling the sheet so she could see his reaction to his gift. He pulled it out of the box and looked at her before looking back at the shiny metal in his hand.

“Noriko…This…”

“I heard you say you wanted to pass something like this down though your family, a watch.” She smiled, “I wanted you to have it.”

“But this had to have cost…I can’t take this.” he looked at the watch before looking at her, “This is too much.”

“No, it’s not.” She looked him dead in the eyes, “It’s a gift and I want you to have it alright?”

He looked at the watch and rolled over to pin her under his weight. “You…I love you.” she smiled and touched his face, “You know I love you too.”

Jun wondered into the living room when there was a knock at the door, he saw Mizumi dozing next to Ohno and Akira was leaning on Nino while he played his game. Aiba was in the bathroom so that left him to get the door.

Sho was there with his arm around Noriko and he turned, “Hey everyone! Sho’s here!”

Everyone woke up in an instant and Sho got pulled into his friends while Noriko went to put the coats in Mizumi’s bedroom, while Jun followed her.

Sho finally pulled away from Ohno, Nino, Mizumi, Akira and Aiba who came back from the bathroom.

“Thank you guys.” He then turned and excused himself, “I’ll be back I need to put up my coat.”

He pulled open the closed door and saw Jun with his arms around Noriko and kissing her hard. He said her hands were fisted in Jun’s shirt and he stared at them when Jun finally pulled away. Noriko looked towards the door and had tears in her eyes.

“Sho!” she went towards him but he slammed the door behind him and kept walking, past his friends and out the door. He got to the elevator not able to feel a thing.
