Enjoyed your story! I can only imagine the pain Cas felt to have been betrayed by his brother(s) and the decisions he had to make to go to Dean. Great job! (I visualized Cas flying frantically to get the knife...flutter, flutter...cute!) :D

Glad you liked it! I was just wondering how Castiel got from 'God's Will' to 'I'm going to find God', so this was born. He had to find out at some point that Heaven's order =/ God's will, and I envisioned that as a breaking point.

(I know it looks like teleporting but I am totally convinced that the angels just fly in/away really fast on Show. WINGS YAY ♥ )

A nice little introspection into Cas's mind and growing doubts.

Thank you! I've been really intrigued with what's going through Castiel's head during these times for a while.

This is a great insight into Castiel's thoughts during 4x22. I especially liked the Castiel-Zachariah interaction. Because if I love any two things in this world, they are a) Castiel and b) Zachariah.

One nitpick! You spelled Jimmy Novak's name wrong. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the fic! I think it's great that Castiel did all these things for Dean, but given that his storyline in season 5 is finding God, discovering that his orders are not necessarily God's Will must have been a factor in his departure from Heaven, IMHO.

Castiel and Zachariah have this horribly creepy relationship. Guh. Maybe it's just because Cas is such a lost puppy, but it really feels like almost every angel we see him with is ready to put their foot on his neck, if they haven't already. So, yeah, tried to get that in there. =D

I totally did! WHOOPS. Brainfarted on his name spelling after that fic on ff.net, Loyalty. fixed now!

I agree; I don't think Castiel ever would have rebelled if he hadn't begun to believe that his orders were not coming from God.

Very well put. Castiel is just so earnest and good-hearted and sweet that it makes for a really interesting dynamic when you put him up against another angel who is slimy and immoral and would have no problem crushing him. Put his foot on his neck - an apt image. Also somewhat hot, if I do say so myself. :P

You and I are of one heart, there. Where are the creepy!zach/cas and lucifer/cas fics? D= I feel so dirty!

Actually, on a slightly different topic, I'm looking to tackle a 'missing scene' from 5.10: how Castiel found Dean and Sam (since they're hidden from him) and the aftermath when he took them away from Lucifer. It occurred to me that a legit explanation for Castiel's absence at the end was possibly Dean&Sam being furious with him for not being there in time to save Ellen and Jo: while he has a legitimate excuse, I can't help but wonder how Dean&Sam reacted to a perfectly unhurt Castiel suddenly whisking them away. Do you think Castiel would explain himself properly? I'm ... not sure he would, at least not right away and in the face of an emotional response, so opinions would be appreciated.
