Catch-up...

...seems to be all I ever do!

Had a 4th of July party yesterday. Pretty fun, loads of food and a chance to clean out my pantry (red beans and rice and a monster batch of mac-n-cheese). But no watermelon, no corn on the cob (I did splurge last week, for myself, and, uh, it was, frankly, crap. Minnesota has ruined me for corn!) and no fireworks. But still, great fun.

Except for the football match. Two minutes left in extra time and Italy scores. Less than a minute later, they score again. Bastards. Surprised they managed to play, spending so much time flat on their backs grabbing various body parts trying to get yellow cards. Pansies.

What else? Hmm.

Oh, yes. Relatively calm about the dissertation, but quite frankly just want it to be over and to get on with my life. I'm getting impatient (surprise, surprise!) and I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for the marks from my re-writes! I don't know how many trips to the office (and one to Student Records), e-mails to my course moderator and the not-very-nice-person in charge of changing my status and still, nada. Zip. Zilch. 'Uh, um, well, they should be marked.' 'Okay, so they're marked. Where do they go from there?' 'Uh, well, um, we don't have them.' 'Okay, so who would?' 'Uh, well your moderator would have the comment sheets.' 'She doesn't, but that's not what I want. I just want the numbers. The marks. The scores.' 'Uh, well, and they aren't online?' 'No, and my moderator said you'd have them. Where else could they be and I'll be happy to find them.' 'Uh, well, eh, the Student Records Office might have them and just not put them online yet.' 'Great. Thank you.' (about 20 minutes later) 'Hi. I just went to Student Records and all they have for me is what I already have online. They said they get the marks from you and then put them up and so you should have them.' 'Oh, uh, what was your name again? And the course?' (time elapses, repeat ad nauseum) 'Oh, yes, well, I've forwarded your question to your moderator to see what she knows.' 'Okay, but she told me to come to you. If they should be done but you've not gotten them, couldn't they be with the external examiner still?' blank stare 'Yes, well, thank you. I'll just check with my moderator.' E-mail to her and to person snarky about me having to have a certain mark to be switched to the MA. Nothing. This is completely distracting, frustrating, infuriating and totally unnecessary.

Yeah, I think that pretty much catches me up. Pictures to be taken in tomorrow, which means I'll have prints friday and should be able to post some tomorrow as well...
