My Vikings always disappoint, but I still watch, heart in my throat and a dream in my imagination.
But my current malaise has to do with that other football. Yes, I've got World Cup Fever. And it's quickly pissing me off. Mostly it's to do with referees. Yesterday's Australia-Italy game was a travesty. A complete, utter, total rip-off. I missed the first half, but there were a few questionable calls in the second, but nothing they couldn't deal with. Then, with something like 30 seconds to go in a 0-0 game (which would lead to a 30 minute overtime), an absolutely ridiculous penalty that won Italy a penalty kick. Of course the bastard made it and Italy won the game. If I were a die-hard Australia fan I'd be fuming. Hell, if I were a die-hard fan I'd be fuming. Hell, I am fuming. The referees in this tournament...well, let's just say that FIFA needs to take a look at its hiring and firing and training processes.
