Watching Akira Kurosawa's "Ran" with my parents was a combination of awesome and irritating. Awesome because it's a brilliant movie. Irritating because even the best movie is spoiled by talking instead of watching.
Ran! So good. I don't know if your newspaper gets the comic, Non Sequitur (how do you refer to comics? Quotation marks? Italics? I'll just ignore this), but today's is very good (in the "rarrr, talking" kind of way). I guess it's more the "rarrr, the cigar is just a cigar" kind of way. But also, my father does the "I'm going to state the obvious! Oh, now I'm going to ruin the dramatic moment by mentioning something completely random!" ARrrrrrrrg. Pirate!
My favorite is when butchered versions of the characters' names are applied to the incorrect characters in totally wrong interpretations of what's going on, such as: (Tango arrives on horseback with food) "Oh, is that Sabarro? Has he come for his father?"
