... What kind of parent uses READING as a punishment?? At work we got to talking about how anymore with a lot of kids, sending them to their room isn't a punishment, since they have computers, and tv's and phones, and games etc. in there. So Tracy points out that she makes her kid read. Both Kanishia and I jumped on her about that. Said that if she does that he's just going to associate reading with punishment, and he's really not going to like it.
her defence? "well he doesn't like to read, and he has to read 100 minutes a week for school, and that's the only way I can get him to do it"...
I know there's plenty of people/children who don't like to read... As a reader, it baffles me, but I know it's just how some people are. But why would you enforce a dislike of reading by making it a punishment??
