Signius awoke and realized quite quickly that he was not in his bed. The land looked completely different than he had remembered ever seeing, and his limbs didn't wish to reply to his commands. His mind screamed as a cold, icy grip wrapped around his consciousness... he was likely going to die soon. It was only a matter of time, Dremire. Ah, at least his inner monologue was still working. He must have been drugged. Hopefully they make this quick.

He mentally noted everything that was going on around him, trying to keep a checklist of what he saw before the end of his life. Armored men, huts, and finally being locked in a room with strangers. Strange... I'm not alone?

Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tiiiiiiick. Toooooock. The seconds dragged on over the next few hours, though he could slowly feel his muscle strength returning. His limbs felt mostly like rubber, but once he could actually move he shifted against a wall, rubbing his hands together. The odd language that he'd been hearing suddenly assaulted his senses, and... he understood it. ( ... )

Well, it's been a while since anyone's glared at Kaite so spitefully. Not that he could blame the man for giving him that kind of look, Kaite knew a few individuals who would probably have done worse in the same situation, but still it's never a good feeling to have so much distrust being directed at your person. Especially if the person directing it is someone you'd have to be depending on in the near future.

Still, he kept a hand on his waist, close to the blue gemstone he'd certainly need to protect himself should this guy decide to get a little frisky. Or stabby.

"No questions at all?"

He tried to judge the distance between himself and Kaite, factoring in many things. There was a second person with him, and of course the giant wolf too... both of which would complicate things. The man had said something about joining a guild, but if they had all been brought here like he had...

His voice barely broke loud enough to be heard. "Don't you mean we're prisoners?"

He'd been a prisoner before. He knew the rough treatment of armored men, carrying him down a hallway and throwing him in a cell. The clicking of the lock as the door slammed shut. This was very familiar, but at the same time oddly different. It left no better taste in his mouth.

"The word you're looking for would be more like... refugee." He took a moment to consider his own choice of words before giving a small nod in satisfaction.

"You guys popped out out of the portal, unexpectedly might I add, and the UMA originally hired us to deal with you in less friendly, happy matters. But seeing as you guys aren't bloodthirsty beasts or anything of the sort, they're taking a more diplomatic approach. And by that I mean instead of getting rid of you guys, they're dumping you on us. It's not exactly the nicest way I could put it, but I didn't have much time to prepare a speech before coming here."

The words processed in Signius' mind for a moment, then were all spit out into a jumble of nonsense. He had been in his tiny hole of a place in Prontera, asleep, and then awoke here. He couldn't move. Everything logical seemed to indicate that they had been drugged and taken here for some reason.

1+1 = 3, and it did not make the knight a very happy man.

"I have never heard of this guild." For a moment he let his mind run through a list of associations he'd known, both in Rune Midgard and Arunafeltz, but still drew a blank. "Rogues?" That seemed the most likely, though he couldn't actually rule out the Assassin Guild. They weren't exactly known for being normal.

Odin help him if he was once again in Arunafeltz's hands. A slightly wry smile tugged at the edge of his lips when that thought hit his mind. Irony, that.

"We've got one or two in the guild, but none of them are onboard at the moment," he responded with an odd look at Signius. On the one hand, it seemed like the man was at least familiar with the concept of guilds, of classes even, but for him to have not have heard of Whispers of Loki was a strange thing.

"Whispers of Loki? Main base in Al de Baran, with our second location in Alberta? Any of this ringing a bell, or are you the type who generally doesn't deal with merchants and prefers to hunt, eat, and wear everything you can yourself. Not that I'm judging or anything, but you look well-dressed for a guy potentially wearing Lunatic pelts."

The man slowly shook his head. Sure, he knew the cities and had spent time traveling the world, but he didn't recognize the guild itself. Slowly, Signius pulled himself to his feet, letting his muscles strain under the weight of his body and armor. While he'd aged since the war, anyone who saw him... took a good, long look at him, would recognize the man.

"I'm afraid that I have not been social since the war. I still try to keep tabs on things, and your Guild does not exist in the public eye."

At that, Kaite had to laugh, though he took care to make it more of a 'oh you said something funny' laugh than a 'punch me in the face for laughing at you' laugh. There was a very distinct line between the two that he wasn't interested in crossing.

"We're about as public as it comes. And unless you're talking about the ongoing war between us and the effects of Satan Morroc, I think we're hitting a crossroad of realities here."

A crossroad of realities? Satan Morroc? What in bloody Hel was the man talking about? A frown overtook his expression, though the slight glare didn't really disappear, it faltered a bit. Something was very, very wrong here.

That, or Kaite was very good at deception. That couldn't be ruled out either.

"The war between Arunafeltz and Rune-Midgard, five years ago?"

That particular statement earned Signius a very raised brow. How was it that the names of places that they knew were the same, but things were so different?

"War? Arunafeltz and Rune-Midgarts," he took care to enunciate the pronunciation of Midgarts there, "May not be the friendliest of countries, but I'm pretty sure Schwartzvald would have noticed if a war was occurring. And as far as I'm aware, we never got that memo."

He took a step forward, and then another. Slow, easy, testing steps.

"You are telling me... that there was never a war? That King Geirrod wasn't cut down by his Kingsguard, sending the realm into chaos? That the knights never were lead on an assault on the Assassin Guild, and that Arunafeltz never invaded in the aftermath?"

... Man this guy must have had a fun life back home.

"That's about right. King Tristam the- Third was it now?- is fine and dandy on the throne of Rune Midgarts, Arunafeltz is still off doing their own thing, and tracking down where the assassins keep their guild in Sograt Desert must have been loads of fun for an army of armored knights."

He paused then, giving Signius a considering look. The other man spoke with such conviction that there was no way Kaite could simply brush off his statements as a mad man's, which meant that they were both from Midgard. Just... different ones.

About as fun as having bamboo shoots shoved under your fingernails.

He stopped where he was standing, and looked at those around him. It seemed that no one had reacted to anything he said, and Kaite seemed to echo that what he was saying had never happened here. He went to speak again, paused, seemed like he'd say something once more... and then nodded. Just once.

He didn't seem to relax any and his eyes never left Kaite, but the glare-of-daggers had lost a lot of the sharp edge. More like toothpicks now. Maybe butter knives.

This was just too much.

"I'm going to hazard that you've got a lot to think about. I'll give you some time for that, but just remember we'll be getting Recalled soon so be prepared for that. If you've got any questions about either Arunafeltz or Rune-Midgarts in particular, you can talk with the captain or our guild leader respectively. They'll probably be able to better answer your questions than me. I'm just the resident Schwartzvald expert."

He gave a small nod in return to Signius', accompanied by an easygoing smile.

"Either way, sorry for how confusing this all is. We'll be doing our best to accommodate you, but I'll let you know that for right now the UMA wants us keeping a close eye on everyone who passes through the portal, which means you'll have to stay with our guild for a while."
