Climate change seen fanning conflict and terrorism

That's right, Bush. Ignore a serious problem because it's not sensational enough to frighten people into voting for you, and it will come back to bite you in the ass. Via your pet scare tactic.

The former British Ambassador to the UN, Sir Crispin Tickell (seriously? I thought British Ambassadors with hilarious names only happened on West Wing), cites Rwanda and Darfur as areas where climate change created poverty and chaos which created conflict which created a breeding ground for terrorism. And apparently al Quaeda already lists environmental damage as one of its reasons for hating America.

The article equates climate change with global warming, and I'm not enough of an expert to know if that's valid. Don't other things like overgrazing and local pollution also contribute?
