One Week Later

So, everyone's seen Slashpoint over at Comics Alliance right? If not, GO LOOK AT IT NOW! I think that Slash (as in the guitarist for Guns'N'Roses) is the funniest part :P Oh, uh, the image is probably NSFW, BTW.

I'm all hopped up on allergy medication, but it's time for...MY UNSOLICITED OPINIONS ON DC'S AUGUST SOLICITATIONS!

Cover of the Month:

I've only been read B&R sporadically since Morrison left (Last week's issue feat. Jason Todd was reDONKulous), but French surrealist art juxtaposed with Dick and Damien? Congratulations cover artist Chris Burnham! You just made a sale!

Batman's new fighting technique is to HIT YOU IN THE FACE WITH HIS CROTCH.

Wait wait wait. DC Retroactive: The Flash - The '90s is being written by Brian Augustyn? Wasn't there another writer who had the iconic '90s run? Oh, that's right. Mark Waid hates you, Dan Didio.

DC RETROACTIVE: GREEN LANTERN - THE ‘80S #1
Written by LEN WEIN
Art and cover by JOE STATON
Comics legends Len Wein and Joe Staton bring their unique storytelling flair to John Stewart, the Green Lantern in this special issue, along with a 1980s reprint from the same team!
ONE-SHOT • On sale AUGUST 10 • 56 pg, FC, $4.99 US • RATED T

For a comic ostensibly about John Stewart, Hal is looking pretty prominent on the cover. Also, who is the guy to Hal's left? Er, Hal's right, the viewer's left. Is that meant to be Guy? If so, it looks nothing like him.

As Lex Luthor is slowly losing his mind, he hatches a scheme that could increase his wealth and kill Superman - but will he destroy Metropolis in the process?

Is Lex's scheme to put Kryptonite-laced Nair in Superman's shampoo bottle? And hope he dies of shame?

Adding a mace to your scythe (and visa verse) seems like overkill.

THIS MAKES THE ENTIRE DC RETROACTIVE THING WORTH IT.

Why is Superman so skinny with a giant head?! You are freaking me out, Flashpoint.

No snark about this one, just... It's really lovely and not very many people are buying Xombie and I really like it. It's about a guy infected with nanites that repair damage to his body. He fights supernatural threats with a Catholic school girl and nuns who also have super powers. There is a book riddled with semicolon cancer and a monster made from the frustration of insects trapped on the wrong side of a window. It's drawn by Frazer Irving. You should read it.

solicitations, comcis
