"I was a one-hit wonder in my own hometown."

I just read a spoiler-y review of the final issue of Ex Machina and now I'm super depressed. I always knew the series was a tragedy; they tell you so on the first page. But it's a very different sort of tragedy than what I thought it was going to be, one that's so much more heartbreaking. I haven't read the comic itself yet (I get my comics by mail ( Read more... )

Don't get too attached to any event or storyline in Ex Machina. Remember how many branes there are in the bulk.

That makes me feel a lot better, actually. Thank you.

Have you read #50 yet?

I have read #50 and it was glorious.

There are a lot of people who are complaining about it, but I suspect that those are people who either don't read the series or didn't pay attention to what the issue was saying.

Both groups can fuck the fuck off because it was a great end to a great series.

SOMEONE is cranky about comics today!

The review I read really liked the issue, despite making it sound so heartbreaking. I suspect I'll love it, but I tend to get overly emotional about stories I've invested a lot of time and thought into. It took me a few days to get over the Lost finale... So, I'm looking forward to reading #50 and expecting it to be beautiful, but I'm dreading the crying jag it will likely set off.

Then I'm going to sit down and read the entire series in one go to get the full effect.

Over on Scans Daily, somebody posted pages from 50 without the context of the issue or the series as a whole. People have read it and gone "Oh. If that's how it ends, I won't bother reading it."

I'm especially angry because there are moments in Ex Machina that make sliced bread look like crap and you're doing everybody a disservice by jumping to a faulty conclusion about it.

RIGHT IN THEIR EARS.
