While I was doing research for one of my
dc_appreciation fics, I came across this:
I *have* to refer to Booster as "Ray-Bans" in a story sometime.
When I move back to OU's main campus this fall, I think I'm going to carry my textbooks around in a bag marked "Loot."
D'aww! Back when Mark Waid was running around in scaly green short-pants.
The aforementioned fic was the one about some rogues getting together over lunch or something. I finished it on Monday and had it beta'd by one of my "real life" friends who is also a big comic book geek. I used two rogues that were so obscure that she asked me if I had made them up.
We got in to a debate over "alright". I say that it's become common enough that its incorrectness is debatable. She says "Just because James Joyce used it doesn't mean everyone else can."
She also felt that the ending was rather predictable, but that's okay. The story really gets its humor from characterization instead of plot.
This same friend and I have been watching the TV show Supernatural. She pointed out to me that the two main characters, Sam and Dean, are almost exactly like Dick Grayson and Roy Harper, personality-wise. Now that she said it, I can't un-see it! Therefore, the show has become Dick and Roy Go On an Awesome Road Trip! Only They're Brothers! to me. Not that I'm complaining.
Anyway, tomorrow my mom and I will be leaving for South Bend, Indiana, to rendezvous with my aunt, uncle, and cousins. Then, we're all going to Chicago for a family vacation. Yesterday, I realized something awesome: I will be in Chicago at the same time The Dark Knight is filming there! This obviously means that I will be dragging my cousin Katie out at night to go see if we can find Batman.
I'll be back by Monday the 17th, just in time for DC Appreciation Week! YAY! Also, the start of summer classes. BOO!
