i suppose this entire opera experience in a technical sense has left me a bit more cultured. to say the least, lincoln center at christmas is beautiful, and the building itself is all ivory and burgundy and glass. they've got the sort of carpet your feet actual sink into, and they apparently just got these new chandeliers which look like little explosions of glass and they're beautiful too. i enjoyed the music itself though, aside from the singing, which actually surprised me. in a strange turn of events in fact, and one which might just make my parents stop hating me, i might actually take up the violin again, since i can get credit for it. (for the record i think they hate me less than they resent the complete lack of direction my life has right now!) on a final note because i'm clearly just procrastinating, i think i moved an exam up, so i might be able to come home earlier. go me.
