It seems I've only been watching kind of adorable things lately. Which suits me fine :).
Doctor Who Xmas SP was really cute with the Doctor trying to create a perfect Christmas, but when thing go wrong (as they always do), he manages to save the day and indeed create the perfect Christmas for this one family.
Of current Western TV shows I'm following, Lost Girl is my favourite by a long margin. Urban fantasy with ambiguous sexuality (the main is bi and a succubus), het & lesbian romantic plots, great characters, well-developed world, female BFF friendship (so rare), lots of intrigue and mystery.
I already mentioned that Grimm seems like SPN JR. most of the time. It's totally monster-of-the-week at this point. Once Upon A Time, on the other hand, has improved A LOT since the beginning. I still find the kid insufferable, but there are actual twists :O *colour me surprised*.
Leverage continues to be amusing, with some better and an some not-so-memorable eps in the mix.
I liked Himitsu no Chouhuin Erika because the episodes were short and most consisted of the main character kicking ass :D. Kuriyama Chiaki is worth looking for.
Another great drama that defied expectations was The Vampire Prosecutor. I saw positive mentions of it around, but my expectations were near zero when I started it :). In this Korean series, the prosecutors' office forms a new cross-office team and they tackle all kinds of crime.
The main character can the the deceased's last moment by ingesting their blood. He's not "traditional" vampire. But he's also looking for the one who killed his sister several year ago.
The story buildup is excellent, and the end of the season makes everone eager for S2 :P.
