I've been marathoning Being Human since it's so fantastic, and just finished watching through the first series. Can't wait to see the second one!!!
The thing about this series is that like it's name, Being Human, Annie the ghost, Mitchell the vampire, and George the werewolf are acting like their own ideal version of being a "normal" human. But everything they do or feel is just as human as ever. Things like love, hate, fear, anxiety, lust, disgust, hope, happiness, etc. Completely human feelings. But since they've been transformed, they all have this completely unrealistic "perfect" picture of what it is to be a human.
They included quite a few stories into this 6-episode series, but you could say the main thing about is that all three are in denial about what they are.
Mitchell is a vampire, but he's been trying to stay away from killing people and drinking their blood. George is a werewolf who is working in the same hospital as Mitchell, and is also his housemate. He's a complete wimp, and is in total denial about his condition. They share the flat with Annie who is a ghost who came with the flat.
The story starts out fairly light with lots of flailing trying to keep all the characters' 'secret identities' secret, but pretty quickly moves onto darker territory.
In one episode, George bonding with another werewolf (who was full of macho bs), and then finding out that that was the guy who made him...
Then Mitchell was mistaken as a child molester, because he's accidentally left a very not-child-safe video around. Made me think about how easily people can be judged on the word of just one person. The whole neighbourhood was ostracizing them and egging them just on the word of one woman who had just moved in.
And then there was Annie. Once she finally realized how she got killed, I just wanted to rip that little piece of shit into shreds. It was done by her former boyfriend who she really loved, and who was also their landlord. When she finally found out and he could see her, he just came to gloat on her after realizing there isn't much she can do as a ghost. She should have gone all poltergeist on him, I say. That would have shown him :P. The bastard!!!!!
I loved the way Mitchell's old girlfriend who was dying of cancer told him that she did not want to be turned, since she's lived a full life. And then went to his friends to tell them he was in trouble.
That Herrick was just creepy. I wonder how old he really. Probably quite old. I still wonder what will happen in the future. I hear there's a second season coming, which sounds very interesting. Can't wait!
p.s. I might add some reaction comments later when I remember them. Too sleepy to remember anything at all atm...
