While watching a few video clips today, I started thinking about the reasons why some people seem attractive to fans, or suddenly move from nice to OMG!HOT! or to AWWWWWWW! He's so cute!!!
This came on from quite a reverse type of reaction. Nishikido Ryo from NEWS & Kanjani8 is an attractive man, though a bit too skinny IMO. He's done a couple of almost naked photoshoots which were very fine and posed in about a zillion photoshoots after he joined Johnny's.
But what I really like him as is as a drama actor. He's done a very good job in One Litre of Tears, Last Friends , and Orthros no Inu. But promoting a drama is beyond him. He gets all awkward.
The Ryo/Erika Toda interview for Ryusei no Kizuna is probably already a classic example of Ryo awkwardness. He could hardly utter a word since he was feeling too embarrassed. One would think that a person who has already worked in the field for 10+ years would be used to this, but it looks like not.
Another view of him is told by Masuda Takahisa of NEWS on his SCP appearance where he comments that Ryo is scary. I can see how younger perfectionist Ryo could have been scary, but this current 'I'm embarrassed at everything -Ryo'? How could anyone find him scary at all?! I guess he's a completely different person when he's around men than he is around women...
