Finncon/Animecon 2009

Jul 13, 2009 00:09

Finncon is now over for this year and what a great con it was. Estimated 15.000 people attended the con during it's three days. The venue was great and the weather stayed mostly clear, so the cosplayers could gather outside.

Due to the huge crowds inside the building, the air was pretty hot - I suspect the corset shop that was selling lace fans in the dealers' room made quite a few sales... I bought one and at the evening party yesterday, I saw at least 5-6 friends with exactly the same kind of black lace fans :D. We formed our own fan-dom XD...

All the program items I saw (or was part of) had a very nice audience and some were completely packed with people standing on the aisles, etc. I'm too tired to write a proper report now, since I got home from the Dead Dog Party about 45 minutes ago and have to go to work tomorrow, so can't stay up too late :P.

But anyway, the con was fantastic, so thanks to all the organizers for arranging such a fabulous con this year! Next year in Jyväskylä...

ETA:
Excuse the poor quality, but here are just a couple of random pictures of the crowds I took with my cellphone camera:

Kummisetä enjoying his job in the Tuhoa Turha Tuote (Destroy Useless Stuff) charity auction where people bid on all kinds of junk and can decide whether they are bidding on actually buying it for themselves or for it being destroyed. Some of the tools used to destroy things where and axe, a chainsaw, and a power drill...
