The SP continues straight on from the drama and continues on the doctors handling a major train accident.
Looks like Aizawa's grandmother finally remembers him and gotten some kind of a miracle recovery. There is still a lot of angst with them, since she can't live alone. Aizawa would like to have her live with him, but that's not really possible with his hectic scheudule. But at least there's some kind of a connection between them now...
Shiraishi still continues to be a complete wet blanket. I really don't think she's suited to this kind of work, since she continues to be indecisive and weepy every time there are hard decisions to be made, even though she did handle that one hysterical family very professionally. But you can visibly see that she is completely over her head quite often.
Heh, I liked the way Kuroda-sensei was just about to go away and abandon the youngsters without any kind of goodbyes, but the moment he heard about the big accident, he came to the scene and helped everyone.
LOL! Yamapi drilling holes into young kids' heads is high entertainment!
I was absolutely convinced they were going to kill Hiyama, but then she recovered without any lasting damage. Still, it was tense for a while not knowing whether she would survive or not :P.
This Special was a nice continuation to the drama, even though it was basically an extended episode where the young doctors treated various patients around a big accident site. Still, if you liked the drama, this SP is just as fun :).
