I really like how they keep showing right from the start that Ann-chan isn't eating anything. They don't make a big deal of it, just show it happening.
There's also Ann's comment in the ramen place Koutaro takes her to, that she'll only eat the sharkfin soup from a particular restaurant, when just last episode we were shown that she didn't eat it and actually commented that she disliked it. So it doesn't really come as a great surprise when she faints on the set.
Kato Rosa's character is really annoying, because she constantly keeps blaming Koutaro's for any trouble Ann has and think her own way is the only right one. However, just like Koutaro says, quite a lot of Ann's trouble originates from the fact that her mother suddenly abandoned her with a virtual stranger. There's also the fact that the 'virtual stranger' had no idea about what was going to happen, so he's understandably having some adjusting problems.
I agree with how Koutaro kept covering the parade, since Ann's situation clearly wasn't life-threatening. It's just the agency's opinion that everything dealing with her should take priority, whatever it takes.
I also think that the lady (I really like her!) at Koutaro's workplace has a good point, when she comments that Koutaro wasn't really thinking of Ann's needs when he was looking for an apartment. Of course it's understandable, since he was so suddenly thrust upon this situation, but it made him think. He really does want to be a good substitute parent to Ann, even if he's woefully unprepared for the job.
Gah, this drama is clearly planned to make you cry at least once, because I was completely tearing up when Koutaro found the chamr Ann had made for it to clear up so that he could get his story from the school parade. Awwww!!!!
Yes, Koutaro is partly to blame for how bad Ann has been feeling, which resulted in not-eating, but he isnt't the only one to blame. Her mother is much more at fault for suddenly thrusting her in this situation. (I still think that they'll probably reveal some sudden lethal disease like cancer or something, which is why she went away.)
Eee! I loved scene where Ann is all depressed and down about Koutaro abandoning her, and Kato's character isn't helping the situation at all. But when they finally get to her mother's apartment, she spots the charm she made hanging from the balcony and just knows that Koutaro has changed his mind and will be there is just beautiful *sniff*.
(Okay, I went a little cap crazy, but this is just SO CUTE!!!)
However grumpy he might appear, he did stay with her despite all his protests.
