As I mentioned already in my
earlier post on romance, I love reading good romance authors. My latest reads have been Kleypas's first book in the Wallflowers series (Secrets of a Summer Night) and two books in Christina Dodd's Texas Lonely Hearts series.
I seem to have read these books in quite the wrong order, since my first one was the second book in the sequence, Almost Like Being in Love, and the second was Close to You, the last book in the series. Both seemed like ok adventure/suspence/romance stories, but the first book, Just the Way You Are really set the scene, since it takes place several years before the other two.
I have decided that Lisa Kleypas is my new favourite, because her heroes are mostly self-made middle class men in Regency & Victorian settings, and I like the way Kleypas introduces class consciousness and awareness of class issues into her work despite making them work as full-blown romances :).
