Ok, I'm totally pissed at the moment, but..
Today's SF Mafia was really fun. Especially the talk about fandom. Once you are a fan of something, it's always easier to move on to other fandoms. You don't have to stay a fan of something always, you can move on and maybe later on come back to your original fandom. The fandom mentality still remains the same.
Shifting fandoms, they don't even have to be in the same genre (tv, music, literature, whatever), but the feeling of being a fan still remains the same. And it isn't at all related to age. You can fangirl something as a teenager and stop at that, but many people can stay just as fannish as ever whatever their age. I always find comments from children who say that they wish they wont' be fangirling when they turn 20-25-whatever-imaginary-age-they-come-up-with because being a fan, or a "fangirl" really has no age limits.
15-year-olds might fangirl something. 30-year-old, 50-year-olds, even 90-year-olds might fangirls just them thing. You can't really tell someone's age online unless they are willing to show it it somewhere.
And more on the shifting fandoms thing: I think it might be really interesting to look into how people move from one fandom to another. Like I have moved from the sf fandom to the Bollywood fandom to the Asian drama fandom to the jpop fandom, back to the sf fandom, etc. Actually, I think all of the mentioned fandoms are still among my interests, so I could just say that the scope of my fandoms has only increased.
Ok, too tired and drunk to think about this any more :P.
Random: I got my hair cut today. My neck feels naked and it feels a bit strange to have strands of hair swishing in front of my face.
Now I want to hear T&T's "Serenade", whatever version, since I've been humming it for the past couple of days :P.
