Coffee Prince, Naked Yamapi, etc.

Coffee Prince has me totally hooked. I'm about halfway through it already, since I just finished episode 7, and it's total love!!! It's amazing how the extremely girly princess of Goong can turn into the very believable tomboy pretending to be a male in this series!

It's just utterly delightful!!! I'm completely in love with it :).

Since I also wanted to free some room on my tiny hard drive, I watched episode 7-8 or SP earlier today before starting on another Coffee Prince marathon :). I loved how all the members of the group hated being pulled off the job after putting so much effort into protecting the guy. Especially since they and he himself knew that it would be only a matter of hours before he got killed after the protection detail was pulled off.

Episode 8's look into the past was very interesting, so I can't wait to see ep. 9 which I've already got waiting...

Still, Coffee Prince is the one that is totally addicting me right now :).

On a completely unrelated matter, the reactions to Yamashita Tomohisa's (or Yamapi's) sexy AnAn photoshoot have been extremely interesting (and occasionally very amusing) to observe. Considering the fact that there are fans from all over the world from various different cultures and with very different ages, I guess it's understandable that the reactions are wildly varied. Some people love it and some people hate it.

I suspect Pi himself was a bit surprised by all the shock and attention his pictures got, since, after all, he isn't the first Johnny to have an AnAn photoshoot and probably won't be the last or even the most raunchy one (Kimura Takuya's photos were much more erotic, for example).

Yamapi's pictures look very posed to me. There's no real spark between him and the model, but what the heck, he is still a very nice looking young man and I don't mind seeing him (semi)naked AT ALL. Quite the opposite :D. And I had been hoping he'd do an AnAn photoshoot for some time already....

I suspect it's got a lot of attention for the Kurosagi movie, and from a marketing pont of view, this photoshoot was a brilliant move to get a lot of attention on Yamapi. It might even entice some people who weren't that interested before to see the film. So it worked really well in that way.

And about the horrified reactions by some of the younger (or older) fans: this magazine is aimed at adult women and not children or teenagers who have had no sexual experience at all. Though I was highly amused to hear that the Yamapi photos are immediately followed by an article on female masturbation techniques - not subtle at all XD... Still, I think the same source also mentioned that the Kimura Takuyua shoot was followed by a guide on sexual positions, so I guess it's just the pattern for that magazine...

From a fandom point of view, I really liked the way his year or two old Seventeen article on "Ideal and Reality" was posted on the news_jpop fan community, because in it he specifically talks about his public image and the real him.

Excerpt from the article:
The 'ideal me' image created by the fans and the real me. Unfortunately, I might not be able to grant everything from the fan's ideal. I don't want to have to lie to myself so that people will like me. If one likes a person who can grant everything from his ideal, it can't be helped if he follows that person. Then, what if I always lie to myself in order not to break the fan's ideal? Someday everything will collapse. That would be super uncool! That's why I don't lie. If I would say now, being 21, "I haven't dated anyone even once. I've never held a girls hand", wouldn't it be kind of disgusting? Conversely, I think the fans would disappear. The reason I can act in dramas is because I've had lots of experiences, and it would be stupid if I'd talk about love without ever having fallen in love before, right? They would think, "What's with this guy? He's watching too much movies!"

I can't always be like everyone's ideal. But, as much as possible, I want to make people have fun, and that's an unshakable truth, and a reality. That's something I want to say loud and clear.

Still, it's been extremely amusing to see everybody and her mother/sister/cousin/daughter use a Yamapi AnAn icon or wallpaper or sig or whatever. Those pictures are everywhere! Even I currently have a wallpaper that is made of those pictures :D. Very distracting to be sure, but I can always change it to another one when I want to :).

And in case someone hasn't seen them yet and is curious, find them at yamapi_daily or boys_paper.
