I realized that I haven't yet posted on the rest of the films I saw at the film festival last week. This week has been pretty exhausting at work, since I've been on a very intensive training course in my new team. It's all been very interesting, but also very exhausting, since I've been trying to absorb huge amounts of new information in a very short time. And it's still bound to continue next week :/).
Film Festival
Paprika was a Japanese anime where a prototype of a machine that allowed people to enter dreams was stolen. The rest of the film was a delightful mind-trip between reality and dream, since they both started to meld together at some point.
Rain's I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK was very good and funny at times, but at other times it looked like the director didn't really know in which direction he wanted to go and just added more weirdness for weirdness' sake into the movie. Stilll, despite it's flaws, I quite liked it and the imagery in it.
I think Spider Lilies and Dasepo Naughty Girls were also enjoyable, but faulty movies. Spider Lilies probably tried to include too much stuff in it and the story just couldn't carry it all. Rainie Yang was mostly her cutesy self in the movie and Isabella Leong angsted a lot, but I don't think that was enough to carry the movie.
Dasepo Naughty Girls was very funny at times, but was another movie that didn't have enough material to last it all the way through a full-length movie. All the kdrama clichés and musical numbers made me laugh quite a bit, but it still felt quite a bit watered down when the film moved on to the problem of the demonic principal.
Hana Kimi
Yesterday evening I watched the last episode of the Japanese Hana Kimi. After it's ending, I still feel like quite a few other people: I started watching because of Oguri Shun and Horikita Maki, but continued watching because of Ikuta Toma.
I feel the farewells were prolonged way too much and I still feel very blah about Sano and Mizuki despite the (very awkward looking) kiss at the airport. Their relationship just wasn't developed enough in this series :P.
The only moments I felt really moved where the moments between Nakatsu and Mizuki, especially when she was telling him she only thought of him as a friend, and during their farewells. I was in tears during both of those moments.
And then there was Toma's miming when his character was anticipating Mizuki's responses. That guy really needs to have a one-man variety show of his own! He's great at physical comedy!
Tackey&Tsubasa: Hatachi
I also watched Tackey & Tsubasa Hatachi concerts yesterday, and after watching I think I'm an even a bigger fan of them as a unit than I was before XD. I had a blast watching the 2002 Yokohama and Tokyo Dome concerts, though maybe not always for the intended reasons, because quite a lot of my time was spent on IMing with
allbloomedout on how
hideous and mockably
horrid most of the
costumes were or how hot Tackey and Tsubasa (and Yamapi) were on the concerts XD... And Tsubasa should *NEVER AGAIN* dye his hair
blonde :P!
But there were quite a lot of wonderful moments as well, like Toma and Tsubasa's duet and the "passionate hug" afterwards and subsequently Takki and Yamapi's entry to the arena and their "jealous" looks :). And then Takki and Yamapi's very hot performance of "Circle".
Tsubasa's dancing was, of course, unparalleled. Though I still can't get over the blonde hair... :P And the white
costume with a white feather boa and a golden cape with leopard print on it. Um, that was really, uh, something else :P... But despite his rather goofy exterior, he looks *really* hot while performing!
I also found it quite funny that during their first appearance, all of the 4-Tops were introduced by names, but KAT-TUN who acted also as backdancers (and mostly looked awfully young and scrawny) were only introduced as a group.
The "ero ero" dance in this concert was pretty embarrassing to watch, because everybody looked quite awkward during it and all those under-age juniors made me feel completely pedo even for watching it :P.
There was also chibi!Ryo tapdancing, which was another wonderful moment. And Tsubasa's sparkly silver cowboy hat :D. Hmm, what else have I forgot?...
The debut concert at Tokyo Dome was also wonderful. Again with the laughably hideous costumes for both of the guys, but then there was also the moment where Takki messed up the lyrics for "True Heart" - adorable XD. And a mock fight with guns, machine guns and CHAINSAWS!!! I was totally rolling on the floor laughing while watching this bit XDDDD!!!
But then there was sweaty bare-chested
Tackey playing a grand piano and singing "Negai"... *swoons*
So it can be said that the concerts were *extremely* entertaining (whatever the reason) and made me love T&T even more than before. Now I still need to get their 2005 concert as well... And I can't wait to get my copy of the "Best" collection with the CD full of junior songs!!!
ETA: Oh yes, I meant to write about T&T's 2007-10-05 appearance on Music Station as well :). First of all, Arashi on the background look great :) (though I'm still of the opinion that Sakurai Sho's haircut makes him look like Horikita Maki XD...).
I strongly suspect that "Yume Monogatari" is always going to be the first song associated with them by quite a few people... (again playing on the background)
Like I earlier said, Tsubasa should never again go blonde, he should always stay with black-hair. Takki also looks best with black, but he can also carry the blonde, red, orange, etc. locks. He (almost) never looks bad XD!
HEEEE! Did anybody else notice the Ohmiya moment on the background when the female speaker was announcing T&T's "Special Medley"?!
Heh, "Kamira Tamara" sounds like an ok song, and the performance sounds a lot better than the junior perf I saw on Youtube before this :).
