I was too tired after all, and managed to watch only two more episodes of Kamisama, Mou Sukoshi Dake. But actually the end of episode 7 was a good point to stop, because the episode ended in a happy note for a change. This series is really, really wonderful!
GUH! Takeshi Kaneshiro dressed in a black shirt and leather pants angsting on that bed and screaming in pain into the pillows - pure fanservice, I tell you!
But before that, I thought it extremely brave (but perhaps a bit foolhardy as well) of Masaki to reveal the truth about her HIV positive status and how she actually got the virus through prostitution in front of the school assembly. She couldn't handle the secrets anymore and wanted to tell the truth.
I found her speech about how she had discovered life so much more precious now that she knew she would die young very moving. Everything seemed much more important to her now, and she had also fallen deeply in love with someone, which added more meaning to her life.
I loved how Keigo kept supporting her all the time even though he knew her revelations might cause more trouble to him. She had already naively told that sleazy reporter about her relationship with Keigo, because she wanted to help him and to set the record straight with the press. He tried his best to protect her and keep her from finding out how much the scandal had actually cost him.
And when she found out and tried to help him, he tried to push her away and hurt her by saying she was merely a burden to him and an annoying pest that kept bothering him. But when he left, he couldn't get her out of his head and we get that scene of him writhing and angsting on his bed. Mmmmm! Sorry if I melt into a puddle of drool for a while...
Then he's visiting all the places they were together, the park, the plaza where he helped her steal the giant poster of him and the noodle place where he took some noodles from her plate. And he's just thinking of her, though he knows that he'll have to leave the country soon to find work somewhere else, because the news articles and the rumours have made it impossible to find a record contract in Japan.
The final straw comes when he finds out that the concert has been cancelled, because the sponsors are afraid of the scandal. He goes to the empty concert hall alone and starts playing that song he dedicated to Masaki. And suddenly he hears someone yelling his name.
And we get the awesome, AWESOME scene, where he finds all the walls have enormous sheets saying "I love Keigo" and someone appears waving a single flag with the same slogan. And Masaki pops up and says she spent a week doing all those signs and does he think her silly now. She continues that she will continue loving him to the end of her time, she can't help loving him.
And he starts walking towards her and angrily asks her what love is? To him it's only pain and a bother. But why does she make him feel this way, why can't he stop thinking of her, and then he grabs her into a tight, tight hug. And starts kissing her (and I started blubbering and grinning at the same time :)). At first she's just standing there, like she can't believe this is happening to her, but then she starts kissing him back. They both look so happy at the end of the episode, but I just know there is much more angst to come yet...
