Grr, the third disc (of 3) on my Dragon Zakura DVD set has a manufacturing fault on the surface of the disc which makes part of it unplayable. I'll have to get it replaced :P.

But on happier news, I received today also my package from Yesasia, which contained Huang YiDA's both albums (first with VCD and second with DVD), a Zhou Hui album, and Duelist OST (2 CDs). From what I've listened so far, all of these are proving excellent buys.

Zhou Hui has a lot of ballads, but I loved her voice in Chi Luo and all of these ballads work just as well.

Huang YiDA's first album has a mix of some ballads and more energetic songs, just as the second album which I'd already heard before. I think I actually prefer his first album, because it has more fast-paced songs set in his proper voice range than the second one.

He writes some very catchy songs, but I guess his main problem is that some of the songs he writes for himself are set just a bit too high for his own voice range, so he sounds occasionally very strained trying to get to the high notes. Almost all of his songs are just the right range for me, though (just an octave higher :)). If I knew Mandarin Chinese I could sing happily along *g*.

Another piece of music I'm currently in love with is the I'm a Cyborg But It's OK OST which I got through not-so-legal means, but it's good enough to buy. Some songs are reminiscent of Danny Elfman, some have a ragtime-y jazzy feel to them. I love the waltzes and the jazzy feel of the whole soundtrack.

It's a must buy, since in most cases I prefer to have the actual CDs as well as the mp3s. The online downloads just work as previews on whether I should buy or not :).
