Janet Evanovich: Twelve Sharp

Jul 24, 2006 16:03

124. Twelve Sharp, the twelfth entry in the ongoing Stephanie Plum series was a bit disappointing. I can't put my finger on why exactly it didn't quite work. Maybe it was that it just felt a little subdued compared to some of the other entries in the series.

None of Stephanie's cars exploded. There weren't any outrageously bizarre and/or funny captures. There weren't any really laugh-out-loud moments, though there were some slight-giggle-aloud moments.

Nothing really happened in her personal front, though the usual wavering between Morelli and Ranger was still there. She really has to resolve it one way or the other for at least a couple of books in the near future. Preferably having Stephanie hook up with Ranger - at least for a while :).

We do learn some more about Ranger and I liked the reversal of what happened a couple of books back when Stephanie crashed in the Batcave. All in all, this book was entertaining, but not among the best in the series.

On a completely unrelated matter, I saw the first promo for Supernatural this weekend and almost fell of the sofa because I laughed so hard. And the reason: Subtv's slogan for the series is "Kauhulla on kauniit kasvot" which liberally translated means 'horror can be beautiful' (a more literal translation is 'horror has a beautiful face/horror has beautiful faces'). ROTFLMAO!!!
