Receiving the card with it's terrible writing the day before his birthday, Sean didn't know if he should laugh or cry. In any case he was disappointed. He had hoped his lover would make it home in time for his birthday, but once again obligations seemed to have gotten in the way. He knew whatever gift would arrive from his lover would be something he, Sean, would cherish. It may be a bit crazy or unusual, but it would be something he would like in the end. Still it wouldn't make up for his absent and deeply missed lover.
At the ringing of the door bell at 8.00 a.m. sharp the next day, Sean threw open the door in anticipation of his gift. And for a second he thought he was dreaming, blinking he moved his head to the left to stare into nothingness and then back again, but this was real. There he stood, clearly tired and exhausted and with a big red bow around his neck. His lover!
