i got a lovely reply to my letter. it makes me cry when i'm reading it :(

Thanks for your letter to us all.
It was really good to hear that you enjoyed yourself and learnt so much. I was actually spewin at myself afterwards for not saying a few words about yourself and Big O at your farewell.. I just wanted to say how well you both went and how much each of us enjoyed having you both as part of the team. It's just may have been nice for you guys to hear it from us, as although Alastair sincerly meant everything he said, it can be lost in the 'bosses speach'!! You did both fit in really well, even if we had to physically break your shell to make you come out of it.
I can say that everyone enjoyed your company and you would be welcome back tomorrow. In fact, Alastair is hoping that you both put in applications for a job here as not only did you prove to be smart enough for the job and a willingness to learn, you were twisted enough to fit in with our team, laugh at my silly jokes & keep me company on pit rides.
I also want to thank you for the present you gave me. It suited me perfectly as it was a humourous jab at me, but also a kind jesture of something that is very useful to me. (I wont waste it on work cars !!)
So thankyou very much for the present and kind words on the card. I would employ you as my personnel assistant today.
I am glad you felt comfortable here as it wasn't that long ago I was young (true!), but also I was contractor onsite and I therefore know what it is like to be 'outside' the team.
Anyway mate, thanks again for everything and it was great to meet you. Keep in touch as you will very soon learn the mining industry is very small and you never know what is round the corner.
