Confessional time:
Rosary? Check.
Assorted deadly sins? Check.
Okay, I'm not even Catholic. But I do have a confession to make. I LOVE THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. And I just can't contain it anymore after this last episode.
So, 2.21: The Sun Also Rises.
(random thoughts after watching)
-Firstly, I'm excited for the Hemingway title, and I also just saw that 2.22 is called "As I Lay Dying," which, Fuckner... I mean, Faulkner... okay, I guess. JUST FOR DAMON, JUST THIS ONCE.
-I was really surprised at the end of 2.20 with the whole Jenna thing, so I was interested to see how that played out. Granted, I did call her being sacrificed in the end, but again, SURPRISE with the Stefan martyr business. Though knowing Stefan I probably should've seen that coming, too. New Magic 8 Ball time, I guess.
- Sad, sad day for Jenna dying, though. ALARICCCCCCC, you poor man. And ELENA. And JEREMY. Agh. I felt like this was somewhat ill-conceived, and she didn't even get a very good death scene. If she had just run instead of bit the witch...
- OH. ALSO. The funeral scene: I just wonder, how are they going to explain Jenna's death to others? The funeral was attended only by main cast, but I'm assuming that someone who is getting a Ph.D would have some friends at the university. What are they going to tell these people? I guess by having the funeral right away, they can get past the whole, "why is it a closed casket" deal, but what about the mortician in town? Is he just used to lots of coffin purchases and/or staked bodies? Hmm.
-Though... I was not impressed with the John deal. Hello, Deus, Ex, and Machina, how nice of you to drop by for this episode!
-They better be back in black for 2.22, though, because I WILL BELIEVE ANYTHING AS LONG AS DAMON IS STILL ALIVE. I MEAN, DEAD. I MEAN, LESS DEAD THAN REAL DEAD. YOU KNOW.
- Still not completely feeling the Tyler/Caroline, since I just don't see it working out in the long run, but I'm interested to see where it goes.
- I still think that they should turn Elena at SOME point, even though I know that's not what she wants currently. I have to wonder whether the writers have a long term game plan for the show that includes vampire!Elena.
- Ahhh, DAMON. I have this theory that drinking Elena's blood will cure him, since Elijah said in the last ep that "the doppelgänger is a supernatural occurrence," and I thought hard and I can't remember Damon ever drinking Elena's blood before. So maaaaaaaaaaaybe? PLEASE.
...
Anyway. So now you know... I have more than one fandom. EEEE, I know. I was dragged kicking and screaming into this one, though, I SWEAR. But... pretty boy antihero vampires and unrequited love and love triangles... yeah, STAKE ME IN THE HEART, I'M YOURS.
