Here...we...go.
Thursday's games were rather quiet, except for VCU reminding Wichita State that they were here last year and know how to handle things, thanks, go home, we got this. OSU won with a good score and no passion, which is concerning, but they were more than enough for
Kyle's friend Jimmy Patsos and his team. Syracuse without Fab Melo is scared by UNC-Asheville, but they held on so Kansas State can remove them.
Then...Friday happened. South Florida continued their green, Hulk-smashing ways, removing Temple. The X-Men removed the Irish - kinda notable. The other Ohio teams also did well, with Cincy holding off Texas' late run and...wait a sec...Ohio beat That School Up North. Didn't their new coach tell his players to Beat Ohio? Oh, that was the football coach. The message never made it to the right team, I guess. ^_____________^
And, since we had a thirteen seed win, why can't a fifteen win? For that matter, why not have TWO OF THEM PULL IT OFF? Since we're clearly dreaming at this point, can one of them be the team playing THE DUKE BLUE DEVILS COACHED BY MIKE KRZYZEWSKI?
YES YES VIRGINIA THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS NO HE IS NOT DELIVERING TO YOUR BASKETBALL TEAM THOUGH SORRY
Missouri, the unloved of the two seeds, fell to Norfolk State of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. And Duke, That Duke, THE DOOKIES OF ALL TEAMS were beaten by Lehigh of the Patriot League. All Of Us, Each Of Us, baby.
My bracket, by virtue of calling Ohio and VCU, is in the 78th percentile. Also of note is a draft of the 64 second-round teams done with three other members of
the old anime club. Three of us have nine teams remaining; 32-(3*9)=5 for the recently-retired club president, who among other bad picks had Duke and some school up north. Position-wise, I look okay there along with one other 9-team person; the third guy with nine teams has a couple more upset picks than main picks, which could lead to mid-round disaster. (Not to mention he has two sets of teams that play each other next round to our one.)
I love this time of year. :-)
